So messing around I didn't a factory reset on the handled UV-5RA. I couldn't load your file into the radio and had to clone the radio and copy some of yours over to make sure it works and it does.

Question I have is I can get the top (A) to show like WXMAN, but (B) only shows the frequency number like 151.625. I can't seem to figure it out to show the text, but the freq is programmed and shows mirrored locations such as the group A. Any thoughts? I tried having the arrow showing B active before start the download, but no luck. Any help would be great and the file you have with all of the freq's gives me the error due to firmware. Any way you could try a new clone of your radio? You could email the file to me and see if it works.

I have an issue with top (A) and bottom (B). WXMAN will show in A and the correct frequency in B. However If I change (A) to another name the frequency stays the same. I can't seem to make them both change at the same time...

They are so you can flip back and forth easily (A/B blue button) on two different frequencies. They are independent of each other. An arrow will be to the left so you can tell which one you are keyed up on/ monitoring.

OK... good to know. I thought I had to make it so they both matched. Everything else seemed to be OK.

I did download @Slacker to make sure I had the correct settings. After a few adjustments everything is good.

THANKS!!

Very Nice! I got some help and all are programmed like originally when I bought it from Trey during the very first or second TRR.

I'm guessing you know how to change the display option from freq/name/ch in the menu for A or B independently. Are you saying when you do that the name info isn't there?

I figured it all out and while the setup I did for you works, there is room for improvement. I'll send you a text.

This was a hugely valuable thread, and thanks so much for the info.

I recently bought a Baofeng UV-82HP off of Amazon (https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00Z52HP10/?tag=fordraptorforum-20), as well as USB Cable (https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00HUB0ONK/?tag=fordraptorforum-20) and a stronger Antenna (https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00KC4PWQQ/?tag=fordraptorforum-20).

I struggled with the base image file to upload, since the firmware on the UV-82HP is different than the UV-5.

What I did was the following:

1. Using CHIRP, I went to Radio --> Download from Radio and backed up my stock radio image (File -- Save As)
2. I opened the IMG at post #1 of the thread, then I went to File Export and exported the channels as a CSV.
3. I opened my radio image from #1, then went to File --> Import and imported the CSV to my radio image in CHIRP.
4. Save that new file with a new name (just to be safe).
5. Go to Radio --> Upload to Radio

Check that your channels are on your new radio. Hope this helps someone else.

Anyone care to donate their Baofeng IMG file for common offroad channels? The original in post #1 has apparently been deleted. I don't trust my fingers to get them all correct, and copy\paste is tedious with Chirp.
