Paul. Is there a difference, other than physical size, between a Squadron Racer and an XL Racer? According to the website they have the same lumens and power draw.

The main difference is the size of the housing. The Squadron series is a 3" x 3" and the XL series a 4.5" x 4.5". They both use the same dome-less LED which explains the same lumen count and power draw. Since the XL series is bigger, we fit a reflector that's about double the size in width and depth. This translates into better long range distance and casts a tighter, concentrated pencil beam. But the Racer series is only recommended for high speeds of over 75mph+. If you think about it, at those speeds your peripheral vision is blurred and your staring completely straight anticipating what's in front of you. If you can fit the XL series, it will be better than the Squadron series. :) Good question!

I just picked up some baja design lights and was curious if others were upgrading their battery to something more beefy like Optima, etc.?

I just switched over from an ADD stealthfigher front and honeybader rear to an ADD pro front and stock rear. I had rigid lights on the old ADD bumpers. I just put seven squadron pros on the front of my truck. I would like to put some lights on the back of the truck that turn on when I put the truck in reverse. That is what my rigid cubes used to do.

I also would like those same lights to function as utility lights. Something that puts out a lot of light in the back of the truck when hooking up a trailer or working outside at night. In addition to the lights turning on when I go in reverse, I would like them to turn on when I flip one of my aux switches.

What would you suggest? Thanks

It sounds like you need this harness offered by offroadalliance.com, https://offroadalliance.com/product...signs-reverse-kit?_pos=2&_sid=56bfda260&_ss=r

It allows you to tap into your reverse light circuit and use an upfitter switch to turn it on.

Any news on the lower grille mounted 10" laser kit? Does it produce shadows since it's mounted so low?

Which lights would you suggest based off of my needs above? What light pattern? Thanks

I would say there's two different setups that our customers go with for a reverse/utility light. You can do the S1 or the S2 series. My recommendation would be our new S1 and Offroad alliance makes a full kit that meets your needs for the wiring. Small, compact, and they're incredibly bright! Check it out.

S1: https://offroadalliance.com/product...-2017-2019-raptor?_pos=3&_sid=7a4070bbe&_ss=r
S1 Flush Mount: https://offroadalliance.com/product...-2017-2020-raptor?_pos=5&_sid=7a4070bbe&_ss=r

S2: https://offroadalliance.com/product...kit-b-br-hardware?_pos=4&_sid=7a4070bbe&_ss=r

I would do the work/scene pattern as well.

Mounting the Onx6+ Hybrid Laser or Full Laser will encounter more obstruction because of the very tight pencil beam. There will be shadows. For maximum performance, I would trim or remove the plastic but then we run into cosmetic issues. I would do the Onx6+ or a 10" Onx6 Racer if you're looking for long distance.
