People justifying paying 5-10k over MSRP make me think people are losing their freaking minds. Driving a 2019 but has to have a 21’ and don’t mind paying $6k over? I can’t even comprehend that.

We been looking at new homes and have been beaten several times by people offering up to $100k over asking price that’s already inflated. I don’t play those games.

Hope things/people get back to “normal” next year.

On the same token, people are getting that when selling their home. Are they playing games? I mean if you could get $100k over on YOUR house do you tell the buyer nah, keep the $100k.

I'll answer your question. I paid a little over $87K and had it delivered to my front door and signed the paperwork at my kitchen table. Works out to $7,500 over MSRP. I could've waited for a 22 and gotten it for cheaper, but who really knows when that would be. Several of the dealers in a 200 mile radius from me that would sell at MSRP told me that the list they have for 22's is quite long and they can't guarantee me one anytime soon. I was late to the Raptor party and so was willing to pay up to $5k over. The closest one I found for that price was a seven hour drive from my house and wasn't the color I wanted. My time is too valuable to waste a couple days to pay $2,500 less for a color I didn't care for.
You and I are on the same page! Time is money and I have much better things to do that spend time trying to save a few grand! Life is just too short!

Not at all ..the people selling are smart. I wish the market in my area was that ridiculous. It’s the buyers making the ridiculous offers that’s beyond comprehension. Once the market adjusts these same buyers will lose 10-20% of their homes value in many cases. Thing is homes are unique. Vehicles are not. If you can buy a Raptor at MSRP at a different dealer there is absolutely no reason why you should be paying ADM. Bonkers.

The whole house vs Raptor comparison annoys me. Really? We are comparing marking up real estate versus a depreciating vehicle? The facts these dealers are making a crap ton right now selling everything at sticker really should be enough. But greedy dealers are gonna be greedy dealers.

And one thing I found out on Tuesday: the salesman don’t get a dime of the ADM. Goes straight to the owner

Why not? Both will fall when market adjusts.

Totally agree. But if I’m paying over asking price for either, I’m going real estate 100% of the time

You understand that this is specific to your dealership, right? Dealerships are franchises, so it would be up to the owner to decide if he or she wants to share part of the ADM with the sales team.

This instance seems particularly unfair. Let the salesman take ALL of the customer beatings when quoting over MSRP so the owner can take it all? Seems like a really fun place to work.

Yeah the vibe of this dealership is horrible. Won’t ever do business with them. And what sucks the most is they are my closest dealer for maintenance.

I’m looking for a MSRP deal on one for the owner of the company I work for. I’ve been quoted $5K over MSRP on a couple. There are 9 possibles nearby, I have some more dealerships to call.
