You can do wireless carplay now, I have the this 14.4" unit but still use this for wireless carplay via sync: https://www.amazon.com/dp/B0CYZQJ37J/?tag=fordraptorforum-20
I keep reading bad reviews of the dongles. Most of 'em I've read complain it goes out after a month, doesn't mesh well with certain features like voice commands, lags for 5-10 seconds on any button press from the vehicles screen or steering wheel controls.
How has it held up in your experience with it?

Been really solid. Every once in a while i need to unplug it then plug it back, but I love it.

Does the Autotec use any of the original hardware\electronics, like the HVAC controls? I'm guessing they have you transplant them (HVAC controls) from the OEM unit to the Autotec bezel.
Yes it uses all the OEM HVAC controls, you move them over to the new unit. It also retains Sync 3 which also moves over. It's the best solution out there right now IMO.

Great thread, just got the truck and already thinking about this one for the wireless apple carplay feature.

Anyone experience issues with the bezel falling off while on rough terrain? Looks like it just snaps in and only uses two bolts on the top? Makes me wonder if its sturdy enough for the high speed washboard and whoops by the house
Been on many a trail since installing; not an issue. Big screen also better for ONX or GAIA off-road navs

Does the Sync 3 move require any physical components? I'm asking because my truck already had a Linkswell gen 4 installed when I bought it, so the HAVC controls and other physical components have been removed.

Yes - you move the hvac controls over to the new units bezel and the sync 3 module as well mounts on the inside.
