I just installed mine yesterday. I used the drivers side and it's working perfectly. I tapped into the gray/brown for the lock (blue wire) and blue/green for the unlock (green wire). It locks/unlocks with the first click. I entered the firewall at the bottom of the ebrake guide. I don't see this as a being dangerous, or an issue, as the ebrake cable is enclosed in the cable and the wires running next to it will not be near any moving parts.

Well there you go, drivers side for badmonkey.

The wire gets pressed up against the side of the edge of the hole over time with vibration the edge could make it's way through the insulation of the wire and short it out.

My advise would be to go through one of the grommets in the rocker panel.

And maybe before you start the project pop both caps off on each side and see which side works for you before running the wires from the tailgate.
If enough people post that they got theirs to work on the drivers side I add this suggestion in the first post.

Yeah, I was thinking about drilling a hole but I didn't have a long small drill bit and I was afraid to scratch the coating on the E brake.

badmonkey, did they ever correct the wires at the disconnect plug so they run the same way?

I didn't notice. I just plugged it in and tested it before I soldered it. Another issue I ran into was the bracket being "floppy". It would vibrate when I closed the tailgate. I ended up placing a cushion between the tailgate and the bracket and zip tying it. It also helps prevent any binding.

Regarding the violet/grey wire, I wasn't particular about it unlocking 1st or 2nd press, as long as it works. I don't care for 2 stage unlocking, and have it turned off, so everything opens 1st press regardless. I did switch back to 2-stage just now to test it, and can confirm that in 2-stage mode, the tailgate unlocks on the 2nd press. If that's a concern for you, you'll want to further investigate the blue-green wire.

Thanks for the tip on the connectors. Those are the only ones I received, but if I have any issues, I'll swap them out.

I used the hole in the passenger floor, as suggested to route my wires. I was surprised to find the hole simply covered by a thin piece of tape, when the Ford says you can drive the truck through up to 32" of water. That's a lot of trust in a piece of tape. Now that I've routed the wiring through, including the flex tubing it's encased with, I've created a point of entry for wather. I added Gorilla tape on the top side, and the bottom side, but water could still pass 'through' the flex tubing itself. I need to go back and fill the whole thing with silicon.

Are you saying your missing the grommets?

I did suggest that you make a slit in the center of the grommet and pass only the wires through not the wires and the loom.
This makes a water proof install.
