maybe the seals could leak the water in if you were to sit in the water for a long time. maybe a 30 minutes. i have seen water in diffs before but usually guys who tow boats and put the truck too far in at the launch ramp. now there is a switch at the rear diff for the locking rear diff. if that seal were leaking you might not get a oil leak up that high. but that is on the rear on my truck. my front is a open diff not a locker. so no switch in the front.

Yea we never sat in water, maybe 5-10 minutes driving through it. I'm stumped! Vent tubes are dam near brand new looking. The front diff had way more than the rear.

I'm pretty sure the vent tube only runs just below the bed for the rear dif, not much higher than the running boards.

Both tubes are pretty high, the rear is right up to the bottom of the bed and I was no where near that deep. I know water can splash but still seems unlikely.

If you play in water alot you should consider going with a Mag-Hytec rear diff cover. This would allow you to service your rear diff much easier.

I already have plans to do that along with installing one on the front diff plate. I'm just concerned with where the water came from??
