If your throwing oil money around if recommend a mobile unit, I run an icom others run the one Kanarky sells, band escapes me at the moment
Who sells the ICOM and where's the best place to get one. Plus what kinda price range am I looking at

I sourced mine locally, trey sells them or look online, antenna farm, I can program it

You'll also need an antenna

Be careful of those big magnets. They tend to get knocked off easily, they are not very strong. I have a small 2.5" mag base on mine. It's only come off once and that's because the branch was at center windscreen height and rode over the cab

Depends on the magnet really. I have never seen the magnet on these but I'm hoping that it's like the magnets on our Hella beacon lights at work. Literally takes an act of god to get one off, we forgot one on a truck that went through one of those auto car washes with the flappy brushes and it never budged. 4-5" magnet underneath.

I have two icom type radios at home in tractors I hate the mics you can't hear unless you talk right in them with your lips touching them.
So just keep that in mind talk loud and close.

I got the Tram 5-1/2" mag mount. It was tough to remove, so I'm not to worried.

I think you have to look at the pull strength of the magnets.
