Just wanted to share my experience last week with this issue. I have a 2013 with about 26,000 miles and because of this post, I checked my rear shocks and found that my drivers side rear shock had some oil residue along with some oil residue on the boot of my rack & pinion/steering tie rod in the front. So I took it into a Ford dealership(Dallas area) expecting a fight of some sort but they were actually very cool and replaced my rear shock and the rack & pinion under warranty. I was in & out in two days becasue they had to order the parts and yes, it was a new rear shock.

Interesting......There are dealerships out there that stand by the product. Ford, rightly so, must be very careful when replacing oem equipment. Years ago dealerships could just order the replacement parts under "warranty" but those days are long gone. My wife had a cell go bad in her battery on her explorer. 2013 with 15K miles. You could check it and see the bad cell but to replace it Ford requires an hour check. Yep...continuous check for one hour to make sure cell is bad and must be documented. Understand oft times it is not the dealership but Ford that requires all this checking or telling you it is normal. There is a guy here in Georgia that I just talked too the other day who had one rear shock "leaking" or "seeping" and he called Fox. They said it need to be replaced by Ford. Interesting comment to the situation.

Seems to be some mixed communication on it. Sounds like if you see it seeping and are under warranty, you should get it to the dealer to make the call.

This is what drives me nuts I took it to one dealership about half-mile from my work said it was normal and attached the information bulliten onto it and then took it to another dealership about 15 miles away and I quote " dude your rear shock is leaking and needs to be replaced they looked into it and the ESP premium plan does not cover this. no consistency on what they consider faulty or not.
