ARE DEAVER LEAF SPRINGS worth it ?

So I too have been considering ordering Deavers, but, will they void your warranty in any way? Especially since Ford seems to like to look for things to void it.
I do t think so, they were designed with ford and were going to be standard equipment but they omitted them as a cost savings measure so the story goes. Also they (SD) the same spring rate as stock For the most part, but as always depends on your dealer and what broke.

I honestly don't know what it would void, especially if you went with a +2 model. You'd be sitting at the exact same height as stock, so no angles would change. You'd be significantly reducing vehicle axle wrap which would actually decrease your risk of damaging OEM components. At the end of the day, it would depend on what broke and your specific dealer. But hell...I think most techs wouldn't even know they were aftermarket unless they were actually working on them.

My Deaver stickers are still readable on mine... :cool:

Based on other reports on this forum, Ford seems to be cracking down on more types of modifications lately. If you happen to live in California, they are no longer allowing any any visible modifications to a car’s engine if you want to pass inspection.

Just for some info. Called deaver direct yesterday to ask some questions. The HD is for about 400Lbs of load they recommend. I have been hearing and reading that they are for 800LB loads.

This makes me now consider the HD as they are still an improvement over stock without weight. And if I add weight in the back in the future the spring will not sag and and still have a good feel

For a while I wasn’t sure what to do, but an 80 pound bump stop kit, a bed cover and some tools. HD could still
Be a good option for me even though I’ll be around the 250LB mark and not quite the 400LB Mark

You tell them your load and they make the springs. I have 13 leaf plus 4 . It is not rocket science. Figure out your load, figure out your height , and you have spring specs

Good point. I’m thinking most people aren’t buying direct. Andre these companies only carry the 2-3 options

"They" is the lovely State of California and I am referring to the annual state inspection of all vehicles. I have a buddy with a very nicely tuned WRX STI who has the misfortune of living in CA and his car has LOTS of mods, including tune, catted down-pipes, relocated O2 sensors, etc. In the past, he was able to remove his tune and his car would pass the inspection, including the smog test.

As of this year, he has to remove his catted down pipe and replace it with the factory one because even though the car will pass all of their tests, if the technician can "see" the modification, it is an automatic "FAIL".

What a pain it is to live there.... :mad:

All aftermarket mods that can affect "emissions" have been illegal in CA for the longest time. Nothing new there. Only things that are legal is anything with a CARB number, and even with that, some smog techs are refusing to smog the car. Your friend needs to find a mod friendly guy or get a special smog. CA BAR sends trap cars to alot of smog stations too. I totally agree with you that it is a total pain to live in CA with all the regulations, taxes and high cost of living.
