Me and MMD visited AB saturday, started the hot november day off meeting in town, then heading off to Fonts Point. From there headed down towards the Ford test route. Had a blast on the route, lots of open washes and some high speed whoops and smaller jumps.

After AB, headed up to California City, near Mojave, to visit some friends. Today we visited Last Chance Canyon, where is started off as hard pack, then went into the wash, then some technical rock crawling. Ended up on a side road that was at the peak of the hills. From there, hit the main dirty road for some more high speed runs.

Found some nice mud puddles on the way back to Cal City. Finally got home in Vegas at 630. 2 days, 1000 miles, and about 50 pounds of run...

We had a great day tearing it up in Anza-Borrego Desert State Park and Ocotillo Wells on Saturday (and on Sunday - Chad left on Saturday and we stayed over).

Ocotillo Wells wasn't very crowded so we were able to blast down some washes at speed. Bank Wash was most excellent - wide open, great terrain and very supportive of higher speeds (part of the loop that Ford took the journalists on - I detailed in the other thread).

At the end of the day we took Butte's and went down the Slot which was fun and, as Chad called it, a "technical trail" - you can see us starting to come down at the very topy of it in these two of Chad's pics:

Those are some terrific pics Chad. It was great to see you and spend the day doing up A-B and Ocotillo Wells.

I'll post up my pics and some more details tomorrow.

Here are the trails and washes we took on Saturday through Anza-Borrego Desert State Park and Ocotillo Wells:

* First stop scenice overlook: Fonts Point (#2)
* 2nd stop scenic overlook: Vista del Malpais (#3)
* Then we drove the journalist loop set up by Ford: Cut Across Trail to Bank Wash to San Felipe Wash to North Fork of San Felipe Wash to Cut Across Trail.
* Next stop: Una Palma for lunch (#7)
* Next stop: Shell Reef (#8) - the hills in Ocotillo Wells where the bikes and quads fly
* Last leg: Butte's to The Slot (#9) which we came down and then a tight technical section headed back to civilization

We covered a lot of A-B DSP's northern section and the trails and washes were, for the most part, wide open allowing high-speeds. They've had 2.25" of rain recently and the washes and trails often change quite a bit. Most of the washes were in great condition and we really enjoyed Bank Wash.

They looped around and flew very close to us at the peak

Borrego Mountain Wash (the canyon after coming down The Slot):

Chad managed to find a way to give his white Raptor a mud bath. He got that stuff everywhere (you should see his skid plate - filled with brown pudding - it's way worse than it looks and it will take Chad a lot of quarters at the high pressure wash place to clear the underside and radiator area):

Imagine our surprise when we saw a little dog stranded in a hole in the side of the cliff!

Sadie wasn't real happy about being put up in there for pictures
