That dimond back cover is super cool, but may be a little too heavy for hard off road use. After it's bolted it'll probably be fine but I wouldn't trust the factory hold down system.

The sd diamondback weighs I believe just under 100 pounds total. Not sure if you considered too heavy or not.

I have an undercover bed cover. it's the plastic one, very lightweight & you can stand on it.
Up until my last run it was great. That's when all the rivets that hold the cover to the hinges failed. It slid backwards, turned into a cape. With some help, we got it secured for the rest of the run. Since then I reattached the hinges and added locating studs to take the load off the hinge rivets.
We will see how well my fix works tomorrow...

Sounds like there are ways to secure covers on the back, but for the most part they all end up causing an issue of some sort. The Leer doesn't appear to hang down far enough to touch the paint on the sides of the bed, and running a lashing strap through strap that's on the cover and securing it around the hitch should keep it closed. The question remains on whether the brackets and hinges will continue to hold up after pounding on it off road. Decisions, decisions...

My DiamondBack is now bolted down thru the bed rail. No longer using the included c-clamps. The SE I have is under 100... More like 80 or so? I'll be watching the welds on the structure of the cover certainly.

Well, question answered...

We thought we would be smart and run a strap through the grab handle on the cover and anchor it closed...didn't do much but eventually rip off the handle. We ran the course at TRR a couple of times and it got progressively more damaged each time. We finally just took it off after it got really messed up. It rode home under the truck on the trailer...

Only real damage to the truck was a nice scratch down to the metal on the bed near the cab. The cover itself is pretty much toast, but we might try and repair it and throw it on CL for a few bucks if we can make anything on it after the repairs.
