In my 17, it will brake if you stay off it too long. Pretty scary, but it worked for me when a moron cut me off. Most times it gives you enough time to react, so that if you do hit the brakes it shuts down hard.

Are you saying it will brake automatically if you ARE NOT using cruise control?

I have only noticed the auto braking when using cruise. I have had the heads up display light up when not using cruise, but no braking. Is that what you are saying, it brakes with cruise on and off?

Correct. There's a video on YouTube of another person experiencing this, and he does not have acc on, and it stops. He says he isn't braking.

Based on a quick manual read, the system will prime the brakes if it senses a possible collision. Light brake press will exert much more braking power in that scenario. The system will automatically apply the brakes if it senses a collision is imminent, meaning the system is primed and the driver doesn't apply the brakes or otherwise avert the collision, like bangbang said on page 2. Adaptive cruise control is not exclusive to this system. It's helped me in a similar interstate dumbassery situation.

According to the Raptor supplement for the 2018, it does NOT brake automatically without having cruise control active.

as it does for the 2017. But at least a few of us have seen that it has. I'm not arguing with you about the manual; I agree. That's why it is confusing.

I was on the way home last night and got to see the Raptor anti-collision in action when it actually counted. A lot of us have lamented the far ahead, turning vehicle setting off the collision alert. I did not brake; the truck did all the work

The video doesn’t quite do this justice as to how hard the truck slowed down.

What song was that playing?

I was driving and while getting off at my exit someone honked and waved to me on my left and I glanced over at them and although it only seemed like a second my trucks warning alert was displayed and the truck was braking hard I realised that traffic had come to a screeching halt and had time to hit the brakes myself.

I didn't have cruise control on and it almost seemed as if the truck would have stopped itself.

I have a 2019 and I simply screwed up by not following one of my own rules which is "if vehicle is moving forward then eyes must be forward, period. "

I know better but we all screw up at times and can only try Not to repeat poor judgment or bad mistakes.
