Me :)

---------- Post added at 05:30 PM ---------- Previous post was at 05:26 PM ----------

1. Im not mad (if i was mad would i be cracking jokes?), highly doubtful.

2. It is not scare tactics at all, look at the difference between the hennescrewed intake tube and something with a powercore or even injen for that matter.

3. The design of the power core offers more surface area for filtration then an injen. (you can not argue that)

4. The power core has the ability to filter the air as it passes through the element multiple times due to its design. The injen and filters of similar design do not have this property.

5. I would love to see you do continual oil testing on each oil change like i have been doing. We can compare notes after 100k miles.

The difference between me and you is i am at least trying to collect hard data to use for my decision making process (and sharing it for others as well). You are just acting a fool and vomiting up marketing claims (see you previous post about how many X better injen filters airs...) and acting like a fan boi.

Trust me if there was something better then a volant (plastic construction, enclosed box, with a powercore filter or better option) i would take that shit in a heart beat.

Enjoy your heatsoak. :)

What are your thoughts on the injen intake being 'tuned'? From what i can tell the MAF sensors are in completely different places... Serious question here as I'm still debating on volant versus injen.

I could see how placement of the maf sensor could play a roll in things. I think they are overstating that roll a bit. The other question to ask is what changes are they making that warrant the moving of the maf in the first place? (was it causing issues in the "stock" location on the intake tube, etc)

Let me be clear, the injen is no doubt a good intake. I just think there are ones that are slightly better is all.

All i have to say is go back a few pages and look at how well the hennesy filter performed with the dusty environment is saw. (if im not mistaken that was probably a oil'ed cotton/paper element)

DirtyNasty which ones do you think are better in your opinion other than the Volant. I am not aware of any due to the fact that the Injen and Volent are the only two with Nanofiber filters, that I know of.

5 Star offers the AFE with a power core and a lid, which would be the only way id run that setup. (The amount of dirt i get under the hood, covering the element no matter which style is kinda important)

In MY VIEW i "rank" them as follows

New Volant w Power core = 1
Afe w Lid + Power core = 2
Injen W NanoFilter = 3
Everything else = 4-10

My real gripe with the injen is the aluminum tube, and lack of enclosure on the filter element. Other then that its element is good and the build quality as you say is good. For those who see different environments the above could shift around a bit. I would put the old volant with power core above the injen, but below the AFE w lid since a large portion of the bottom is open to catch air (which the afe would have more enclosing the filter since it uses the stock box)

If i was driving my truck on the street only i think the rankings would be different in many ways.

Not sure if you have ever installed an AFE on the Raptor but quality is not its strong suit and its been well documented on this forum, not trying to bash AFE as I did buy one thinking they were the best at the time. DirtyNasty do you run a tune with the Volant, as far as I know the INJEN is the only one designed for the Raptor with an OEM tune, and for that reason it may not be a good choice for those running a tune.
I would go Aluminum tube over steel tube any-day, I will never be convinced that plastic is better, just my opinion on plastic but Yuk!

I'm not worried about the big dirt. it's the fine dust and that get in if you have a lid or not. so what I'm looking for is the best filtration + a cai the idea is to allow as much air as possible to enter your engine.
