You don't really need the lid to be on though if you are just hitting the streets. However if I am going to hunt on the weekend I will throw the lid on so it doesn't get trashed.

Are you guys generally running a pre-filter with the AFE? If so, where do you get it? Is it just basically a sock of sorts that goes over the normal filter?
