I haven't seen the MPG improvement on my Raptor. I'm still around 14.0+/- right now. I may try disconnecting the battery to reset everything, maybe that is the trick.

The install is super easy. I got mine from autoanything without the lid. I love it!

I am getting a pretty consistent 15.5-15.6 mpg mix highway city.. With 87 econ and afe cai

the AFE stage 2 with lid from 5star is totally worth it, had a Airaid w/o a lid and went mudding and it got all in the housing, if I didnt have a pre-filter it woulda ruined my engine, second I got home took the airaid off and got a afe /w lid and never had a problem, just give mike a call, there should be a special on them going on for labor day.

Make sure when you are comparing gas mileage on mods to actually calculate out the mileage. I know when I was helping Macejunas drive his on his cross-country move we didn't see much change on the dash MPG meter when we'd slow down to 60 or draft the raptor behind the Uhaul, but when we calculated it out we'd picked up 2.5mpg on some tanks!

My two cents, water issues aside, there is probably something to the fact Ford racing parts and Livernois sell the airaid cai, I purchased one, bored to 102mm via my dremel tool, will run pre-filter at all times. Custom made a lid for the box when water will be an issue. Just waiting to put it on until heads, cam, headers, ported tb,(now maybe pistons/rods 11:0:1) are installed and dyno tuned sometime soon....AFe looks legit as well...

I'd consider picking one up if it was going to improve the MPGs for me. Any little bit would help I am sure.

Got mine installed this weekend and it is great. I love it and the way it sounds makes it THAT much better. One of the best mods yet. It also really smoothed out the kinks in the tune by itself as far as shifting in the low gears.

The main thing to remember is that you get the sealed intake, "with the lid". You want to have access to the outside air with as much protection from the ambient temps inside the engine bay. I run an aFe in my wife's Denali with a slight improvement in mileage (yeah I know, it ain't a Raptor...lol) But I have also seen some independent testing done that compared the aFe, Airaid, K&N and a couple of others. The testing was done on a chassis dyno and believe it or not, the Volant kit actually put up better hp increase numbers, etc. Mileage was not tested since it was on a dyno, but the Volant sealed kit won out over the others. That being said, none of the others were very far off. That is why I say stay with a sealed intake like the Stage 2; doing so is also more protection when offroading, etc.
