Advice on 2017 Raptor Purchase

You really have two options at this point to get a new Raptor:

1) As Rohardi correctly described the allocation system, there probably aren't any outstanding ones left for MY2017. Therefore, you could wait till May when the MY2018 order banks are supposed to open up. You will then likely be waiting another 6-7 months for it to be built and delivered. Also, consider there will likely be an inflation cost. Rumors on the site have been between $1500-5k for the new model. Very little in the way of upgrades have been coming out. MY2017 hit it out of the park other than more Raptors need to be made.

2.) You use Photoeffect's database and find a MY2017 with the options you want somewhere in the country, call up the dealership, and see if you can get a deal you can live with. Then either pay approximately 2k to have it shipped to you or fly to the dealership and drive it back.

My story is similar to most on here. I ordered in July when the order banks opened and took delivery the first week of January. Others here waited even longer or are still waiting. However once they have taken delivery, everyone has stated that it was well worth the wait; and I would echo that statement. It's a beast!!

Yes, hopefully those of us that ordered in July will be taken care of shortly. Just a "finger in the air", it seems most will have been taken care of by April, including myself, which of course, is horrific. But as you say, the vast majority of those that have taken delivery have been extremely happy, and largely forgotten (or at least largely forgiven) the ridiculous production schedules.

Careful...Your gripe is with the dealerships, not the consumers. Some are fortunate enough to be able to pay over MSRP, so rather then take it out on them, take it out on Ford and their ****** allocation system.

It's not about being fortunate enough to pay over MSRP, it's about having self control and not paying over MSRP and pretty much sticking it to the corporation who's ******** their consumer by inflating prices. If people would refuse to pay MSRP or over, we'd all be better off. Since some people have no self control, I 100% blame the consumer for ADMs.

You're not crazy, anyone paying over msrp is a tool of precedent.

Happy to be a tool with 1500 miles on the odometer already. Funny thing is have gotten lots of questions on the truck and not one person has asked how much over MSRP I paid.

eh no. Some people have money to spend, and are willing to spend it. It's not for you to judge on what they should be spending it on. Some people buy $10,000 hand bags, some people buy big houses, some people pay over MSRP for their trucks. End of story.

If you were "sticking it to the corporation" you wouldn't buy a raptor in the first place, MSRP or no MSRP. Stop pretending that you trying to save money is sticking it to the corporation.

Just for the record, I am not paying over MSRP. Just sticking up against your socialist/communist "people should have self control" mentality. It's capitalism, and freedom. Plain and simple.

Every situation is different. I once had the same opinion that I was definitely not going to pay a cent over MSRP, but after my circumstances prevented me from getting an early allocation, my only options at this point were to pay over MSRP, or not get a truck. Not getting a truck wasn't an option, since I needed to replace my old truck, so here we are.

Any person that has done their homework, has realized this is a limited production truck (at least currently), and not every swinging **** can just go get one off the floor for MSRP. Demand has outdone supply, so you get markups...that's life.

Free country, pay what you want to pay. People paying over MSRP makes everyone's residual value go UP.

Not true about the residual, unfortunately.

If Ford starts increasing production and dealers start selling under msrp, then the residual is just worth what people are willing to pay.

The fact that you paid over msrp is meaningless if the option to buy a new one is not much more.
