Adding factory crash bars

I am trying to find out if the stock crash bars (those on f150 screws) can be added to the raptor. I believe they are welded, not bolted to the frame. If so, is the area in which the f150 crash bars are attached mirrored on the raptor (ie would I be able to have them installed in the same way)

My raptor purchase is on hold after unfortunately finding out that ford (even after having been caught with their pants down on 2015 extra cabs by iihs) did not include the crash bars that make this truck safe in an offset and small offset crash scenario.

I really want to pick one of these trucks up, by my and my families safety is non-negotiable. The safety compromise by not having the crash bars is not one I am willing to accept.

I appreciate the time and information anyone here is willing to give and share.

There is a pic here with the crash bars (the colored bits) on a non-raptor Screw.

Source seems to be this article http://www.autonews.com/article/201...ws-disparities-in-ford-f-150-crash-protection. This was mentioned in a previous thread on this forum but it was all jenny bs. There is also talk on F150 forum of guys altering or removing them for tire clearance.

If you read the article you'd know that the type of crash tested is very tough on all makes and models by nature...outside that the Ford trucks have done very well on more common crash testing...

It doesn't matter how the crash bars are attached, they will not work on a Raptor. They won't clear the larger tires.

That's true. Most F150 guys cut them off for tire clearance as it is. They seem so flimsy, I wonder what real difference they make?

Two things: 1) the Raptor has a stronger frame than the base F-150, 2) Those crash bars are flimsy compared to an aftermarket steel bumper made from 2" .120 wall steel.

In short, buy a Raptor and put a bumper on it.
