A-Pillar Lighting

I have the SDHQ and Rigid DSS combo as well and there’s no way I would get rid of it. The amount of light in all directions is insane and almost makes my bumper setup useless in certain situations. Aiming is key of course but I think that with any hood mount light your going to have some hood glare unless you go for something extremely long range like a Rigid Hyperspot or a Baja Racer edition.

So you don’t have hood glare like the other member?

I have the same lights and brackets but have been messing with the idea of LP6s on pillars and using the side shots down on the sides of my SVC Baja frame cut bumper. There appears to be just enough room for them to fit properly in between the support bracing on either side of the skid plate. It would be very similar to where fog lights mount on the factory bumper.

Now maybe it seems muted to me because I have matte hood graphics which could be cutting down some of the light reflecting back.

My only question on the LP6s is don’t they have something like a 170 degree spread per light? If so I would think that would cause for more glare as you whole hood would be illuminated.

Yea the glare would be just as bad with the LPs but have seen others that liked them. That’s why I was surprised by the previous comment before yours regarding the side shooters. I can play with both as the LP6s should also fit in the fog position.

I’ve been running XL80s for a littler over a year. Love the light they put out and they aren’t as big as I had worried they would be. I don’t really notice them daily driving.

Not bad at all. The Cannons have a pretty focused beam, so spill light is minimal. There's some light there, but you don't really notice while driving.

I have the Rigid Sideshots with the SDHQ Pillar Mounts, In all honesty I probably wouldn't recommend this setup to anybody looking at add A-pillar lights. There is so much light reflection/glare off the hood. I had to aim mine up and out to the sides some just to reduce it. Even aimed high and out to the sides there is alot of reflection on the hood. They are fine for the little amount they get used. I probalbly would do something diffrent if there is a "Next Time"

What pattern did you go with on the D-SS?
