Ford dealer claimed it was mud causing it. I told them it happened before I gave the truck the mud bath. I haven't heard anything since...

I think the point here fellas is that, as annoying as "the clunk" may be, it is not harmful to your vehicle and has no detrimental long term effects. I can remember when the Rangers had a "clunk" caused by pinion tip in on acceleration from a stop. It was just an inherent part of its design, but never hurt a thing.

I don't care if it improves my gas mileage, lol. I shouldnt be hearing it. If they can figure a way to make it keep doing it but I can't HEAR or FEEL it, GREAT !.... Good job Ford !!
If I had a 1987 Ford F150 and it started doing it at 217,435 miles I would STILL want it fixed.
If Ford is trying to figure out a "cost effective" fix and is waiting until everyones warranty runs out, they will get sued waaaay before that, lol.
I'll pay for the immediate fix, rather than drive with it for the next year or so.
I have been experiencing the clunk as well, I finally decided to take it in to the dealer, the line tech said they were going to pull the shaft and lube. Then a couple hours later got a call saying the Ford said not to do anything because it is under investigation and the should have a resolution in 2-3 weeks and to check back, I guess I won't hold my breathe. The SSM#21779 was quoted. Anyone else have an update? I also sent an email to Ford corp asking for more info and a fast resolution. Thanks. David
