Funny thing is that on the mainland in Venezuela, gas is $0.083 USD a gallon.

Not that I would ever wanna live there.

8.3 cents per gallon?!? Hmm...how do I travel down there with a few (or more) thousand gallon tanks, fill them up, and come back? The trip could basically pay for itself!

When Brandon canceled everything, Trump had done with energy on Day one, he did it only because he was told to - Trump Bad man. The problem is EVERYTHING depends on energy, either directly or indirectly. When the Peanut headed Carter, tried to force OPEC they cut supply back in the 70's it drove fuel high, then we ended up with 8-10% inflation. Same driver, same result, prepare because without cost effective energy we will get there once again, unless the idiotic Fed drives us into a full-blown recession first. only people that think electricity come from fairy dust believe that EV's will have any positive affect, I say that because they will have an affect it just won't be positive, more Electricity, more strain on an outdated and overburdened grid will lead to more blackouts. They have already asked residents not to charge EV's in the evening hours as it will cause brownouts and that's only with 3% driving them, wait until it gets to 8 or 10%. This is lunacy, Carbon will continue to increase in our atmosphere because there are allot more people on the planet. EV's will only add to the problem, wait until the battery packs need replaced, that's a hazardous waste that will certainly have a legacy for those POS vehicles.

Damn, I get wound up too fast, apologies for the diatribe, after 30 years in O&G I just get triggered by the sheer stupidity of our current administration and the "let's all go off the cliff" lemming push into EV's.

Accounting for inflation, that is equivalent to $2.27 today. I feel like that would be a fair price for gas.

Definitely not going anywhere. Oil was being pumped when naptha (the precursor to gasoline) was considered a waste product. Aviation and shipping industries aren't going electric any time soon, and you can't seal a driveway or shingle a roof with electrons. Well, not just electrons. And until cars hover, they'll need tires and manufacturing those uses oil.

Of course, we could start cutting back on single use plastic. I know, I know, crazy talk that'll crash the consumer economy, but remember when bottles were reused? Replaced with plastic and the lie of recycling.

I was there when it was still the Cypriot Pound. Maybe it just seemed expensive since I was used to the 29 cents a gallon and the Pound was so strong at the time. You got over 3 Riyals for a Dollar, but only about 60 cents in Cypriot money, IIRC. Beautiful country, I think I would have enjoyed living there for awhile.

This would have been before Cyprus joined the EU then; after that happened prices went down quite a bit though I still found gas more expensive in, for example, Greece, Hungary, Macedonia, etc.

Cyprus is a beautiful country but I couldn't stomach living there for more than two years; I was 24-25 years old at the time, on an island that takes 2.5 hours to drive across, with a population of around 1 million where half that amount of people were retirees, pensioners, etc etc. During tourist season, it would fill up with tourists from all over Europe, Russia, etc etc and would become cramped and obnoxious. Outside of that season, it would be dull and boring, as all the activities would shut down until tourist season started again. 2 years was the most I could handle before moving to Pennsylvania and then later, Montana.
