Ironically "Fast lane truck" disagrees as well...

This guy thinks exactly the same as I do. Except he is running a NA Raptor in this test.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=v7Ptb4HDctY&t=4s

I like the new Raptor, I love its looks, its options, and its stock horsepower. But I love a supercharged 600+ hp v8 more. That is something I am not able to buy unless I get a gen 1. With the VMP tuning package and a smaller supercharger pulley I have put on it will eat a Gen 2 alive. What is not to love? Maybe I will even go crazy and stoke it and put more boost to it. That is yet to be decided.

If you like the drive it as you buy it Raptor and v8 sound in your speakers is ok with you buy a Gen 2. Its a great truck. Nobody says it isn't. Just is not for me.

Why people bash the 6.2 so much is beyond me. Its a beast when done right!

Maybe it's just me, but the front end styling of the Gen 1 reminds me way too much of my neighbor's boring-ass company car. Gen 2 has a far more aggressive look.

That is actually kind of funny. Mainly because the later Taurus has a similar engine to the new raptor. I have yet to see a Taurus with the 6.2 in it!

As for looks I like them both but the 2017+ do look somewhat better IMO. Its a shame they sound like a "boring-ass" company car.

Styling is like taste. Do you want me to list all the shit I hate about the gen 2 trucks? The fenders are too flat and look like every other F150 on the road. The grill looks like a huge hole with FORD floating in the middle. The big plastic "thing" on the hood is ridiculous x 10. The rear bumper looks thin and weak, and rear exhaust is pointless if you off road. I don't like the tiny rear window opening. The side mirrors are too small. The wheels look like flowers. The headlights are ugly and don't function as well as HIDs.

Kinda sad considering I really like the Gen 1 truck and the Gen 2 is just a straight copy of all of every single Gen 1 cue on a newer Gen truck.

I own an original 6.2L Gen 1 and a Gen 2, so I was not bashing the Gen 1.

I can truly say, my heavily modded Gen 2 beats my modded Gen 1 in every category except the exhaust note. I am learning to live with the "mild growl" of the V6 TT, but I do love the old-school V8 sound of my CAI, True Dual, 5-Star Tuned 6.2L when it is running wide open! (albeit at a much slower pace...)

A modded Gen 1 still does not have the modern looks, refinement, electronics and smooth ride of the Gen 2, so I drive my Gen 1 less and less every week. Even though I hate to see it go, I may put it up for sale to buy another car for my garage. A slightly used GT350 is looking pretty good right now on the price per HP comparison scale!

Perhaps you would have been better off making the claim and not posting the video. Now we all know TFL acknowledges the gen 2 is better in every way he just prefers the sound of the V8. Oh and he has since sold the Raptor for a Ford Fiesta. That’s how much he loved it.

Myself and my wife also prefer a Gen 1 to a Gen 2.

I know it just blows your mind that someone could prefer anything over your personal choice but, yeah dude- it's ******* real.

Yes, it is my personal choice to like something verifiably superior on every metric than a similar product inferior in every way.

No argument there. Gen 2 doesn't sound great, but it makes a great daily driver. I have two other V8 weekend cars that give me my fill of irritating my neighbors when I get the itch.

Sounds like you spend a lot of time obsessing over the Gen 2. There are way better things to do in life than fixate on the things you don't like.

I too own a Gen 1, and now Gen 2, both heavily modded. I resisted the v6 for a while, but after careful research it is obvious we will no longer have a v8 raptor ever again. The rumors are all simply ********. Ford has invested way too much into this new motor/frame to ever go back. I only have 1200 miles on my gen 2, but can appreciate it differently than my Gen1. I love them both now. No reason to be haters on here. Technology has changed to lighter, more efficient motors that are more environmentally friendly. You can get pissed off about it, or just get over it and move on. The 10 speed trans is really better than the old 6. The Gen 2 is a more refined ride for sure. I too love the rumble my 570rwhp makes when i crank it, more so than the low rumble of the Gen2. But i can appreciate the differences and embrace change and evolution of this truck. There are a lot of improvements over the old Gen 1's for sure. There is nothing like a raptor, it is in a category by itself, and for good reason! I am just glad i have one of each and plan on keeping both until the tires fall off or engine explodes(i kind of have to as i have put too much into them to ever get it back)

I do not understand why a V8 lover hasn't pulled a 5.0 out of an FX4 and dropped it in a gen2, same truck and it should be easy. (Didn't say cheap)

A 5.0 can be pushed way up in HP. One of a kind and the envy of V8 lovers.

I still think Ford should offer a 5.0 version. Between the harcore desert runners and the V8 guys I think it would create more sales.

These threads are so entertaining though, I don't know what I would do if they went away.

Based on YouTube comments on every single Colorado ZR2 video, any Tacoma forum should be good fun. Even more so now with the Ranger in the picture.
