Wow, is this discussion is still going on? Ford cares about PROFITS not people whining about what used to/should be. They sell every Gen2 Raptor they can make and do not have a history of putting "major" new engine platforms in existing vehicles until the next major update...which for the F-150 is not until the early 2020's...so why would they mess around with a vehicle that's selling for MSRP+ before the next major upgrade?? Just wouldn't make any sense for Ford to mess with the Gen2 Raptor at this point. And (like the GT-350) I'm guessing there will be a 2020 Gen2 Raptor...sigh...

I always find it amusing that most of the comments I see online from the ecoboost Raptor haters are made by people who are in no position to get a Raptor. I see a lot of "when I get my license, I won't be getting a v6 Raptor" or "my 89 Chevy sounds better and so I won't be trading it in on a v6 Raptor"

It's not just about sales. There's this pesky thing called profit to consider. (And that includes the cost of not meeting government mpg standards)

No V8 coming in 2019. (Or 2020, or 2021).

With redesign in 2022, maybe a 2 engine option then. But even doubt that.

I've seen dead horses beaten pretty hard. This one is far beyond that. No need to bury the remains, the carcas has been beaten to powder and blown away.

Want a V8, put one in yourself. It's only money.

This whole discussion is pointless. Ford has made no announcement of any intent to put a V8 in the Raptor and likely won't. The Ecoboost is Ford's flagship motor, like it or not, and having a Ecoboost in the Raptor drives sales of the Ecoboost in other F150s. Going back now and either replacing it with a V8 or even adding a V8 option would be like Ford saying "The Ecoboost isn't the best engine we have to offer." That's not going to happen. You don't have to believe that the Ecoboost is the best motor but that is definitely Ford's stance. I'm not going to sit here with a straight face and tell you that a 7.0 V8 isn't a better flagship motor that the Ecoboost, but that's the avenue Ford has chosen and they aren't going to double back on it now.

Before any of you start crying about how all the people who won't buy a Raptor with a V6 and how they all say they'd buy one even if it was $10k more with a V8, Ford knows a lot of people are saying that. They also know most are full of crap. I don't doubt that a lot of the people on here truly would buy a new V8 Raptor and even pay a premium for it, but this is only a small sample of the Raptor buying community. And all of the media channels that are saying this in the reviews don't hold any weight with Ford either. They all say the same thing. "The Raptor is awesome, I just wish it had a V8". Ford knows most people see that review and heard that the only fault with the Raptor is it's exhaust note. Ford sold more Raptors in 2017 than any other model year. It's definitely not a sales failure. If Ford ruined their credibility of saying the Ecoboost was the best motor for the Raptor (and GT) by offering a V8, there sales would be roughly the same as they already are and the reputation of the Ecoboost (an engine that they have a lot of money tied up in) would be ruined. Tell me how that is a good business decision.

We can all sit around and play the what if game, but the Raptor doesn't have a V8 and likely won't anytime soon if ever again. You can be sad or mad or just furious if you want, but it isn't going to change anything. For now and the foreseeable future, The Raptor is a truly capable truck with a truly capable engine with a disappointing exhaust note. It's not the end of the world.

And what, say you, if Ford announces a V8 in the Raptor for next year? Well here is a real shocker. There are people who like the Ecoboost and will not buy the V8. There are those that will beat down the doors to order them. There are those that would have bought one either way. And there are those that shouted for Ford to build a V8 Raptor but still don't buy one once Ford does. In the end it will make little difference to Ford's bottom line.

So in conclusion, the whole argument is stupid. V8 or not, nothing will really change. Just be thankful, in these times of the Nissan Leaf, the Toyota Prius, and other eco-friendly shit boxes, that Ford still makes the Raptor. It's better than any tree hugging hippie mobile, no matter what motor they put in it.

Ford is producing all the Raptors they can.
Ford is selling all the Raptors they build (most at 5k plus over sticker)
How do they get a lot more sales?

uhhhh you getting your numbers from your head lol??
raptor sales are not as awesome as you may think sir.

also, anyone and their mom can say it doesnt matter all they want but putting a v8 in a raptor will convert many to buy one.

you have a mass of Americans that grew up around v8 fords. you can scoff or call them stupid all you want. they have money and they spent it elsewhere.
