6.2 tick?

My truck has a little tick in the motor, it's worse at start up and then when it gets warmed up. Ford says its normal, I know the gm 6.0's and 6.2's are notorious for having a tick, so is this really normal or just ford trying to get out of a warranty claim?

I don't know about others with the 5.4's but mine ticks a tiny bit and it kinda bugs me I'm always checking my oils levels haha I've had a few people ask me if I had a diesel under the hood

Ive noticed it on mine too. To me it sounds like the injectors firing.

This isn't an injector tick. It's a down low metal tick, ford says its harmonics

Harmonics? That's a new one I've never heard anyone tell me that one haha maybe it is. Some of the ford techs on here should know maybe they can chime in

Not sure if u tried searching yet. I know there is a couple threads on this. I dont remember the answer but i know there is a few possibilities.

I thought I remembered it having something to do with the lifters?

Mine does this too... and a few others I've heard as well. I'd say it probably IS normal for these engines.

Yes mine does it more when its cold outside. I took it in before and they say its normal but if it gets worse bring it back.

As far as I know, it's normal. Mine does it - I've been asked if it was a diesel too. The couple I test drove before I bought mine did it.
Now, let me be specific, it's not a loud tick - but there IS a tick.

I always thought it was the MASSIVE valves.

They are quite LARGE considering there are TWO of them. Not saying our engines have balls.

But our engines have balls.
