We know the Donaldson lets in less dirt than say the AFE but would it also be more restrict-full to air flow making less HP?

the above statements sound like a filter test not a dyno test. I understand what your getting at but if the filter says it flows x amount of air that is what it flows. you can look it up I'm making jerky.

I'm just saying air flow should not be compensated by allowing more dirt through the filter.... I'm curious to see what increase in hp the volant would make since it obviously has better filtration than the AFE.

I believe the OP was referring to the limit of the intake system (bottle neck) would be the 3" tube, as the filter is capable of flowing MORE air than the tube. So, regardless of what hi flow filter is used, the restriction is the same.

So why not have the best filtration possible with a high flowing aftermarket tube.

That's funny because I have seen CAI shoot outs on other forums and some had no gains while others had good gains in HP, all tested on the same car same dyno and same day.
To say that they would all make the same HP has been proven wrong.

I hate to burst everyone's bubble, but a 20 HP gain on 400 is only 5%. There could easily be a 3-5% margin of error between tests.

my jerky is a little salty but good.
I think the filter company wouldn't be in business very long if it was letting in dirt. perhaps a filter test with dust is in order. on a fan not an engine.

Haha, I trust that Mike has done more then just ONE pull for every mod. He may be showing the best run for each mod, but its all relative.
