In that case I would assume that the AFE would be less restrictive than the Volant and make more HP but at the cost of letting in more dust.

what a cat back helps with is the removal of underhood heat... Less restriction allows the exhaust to exit better.

Maybe with LTs or removing cats, but just a cat back isn't going to drop your underhood temps

That is an absolutely worthless comment. You made that comment based on no logic, facts, or proof. If the afe is letting dirt in on heavy offroad expeditions, it is clearly less restrictive and flowing more air then the volant which didnt let a spec of dust pass through the whole time this guy drove through black choking on dust

Wow really.... A 3" tube is a 3" tube. I dynoed the AFE with the prefilter installed. Doubtful if any sand is getting past it.

Of course the intake tubes are going to flow pretty much the same. Thats not the basis the argument was made on. It's the filter which is letting dirt through that is less restrictive clearly flowing more air
