Mine ticks and has the same noise as well. Spoke to Ford at SEMA who said it's normal and is because the way the oil drains after engine is shut off and the lifters are last to be oiled when the engine is first started.

Oil consumption does not sound good....

They wanted to change the oil to Motorcraft 5W-20 synthetic blend and start an oil consumption test. It uses about a quart every 5000 miles.

Anyone had similar issues or heard the same?

When I worked for Chrysler as a tech I was told that it is "normal" for a engine to use 1 quart of oil for every 1000 miles.

Do i believe it.. HELL NO, but one quart every 5k miles is not that bad.

Oil consumption is based on many factors, engine hours, vehicle miles, outside temps, engine temps, ETC

Also im pretty sure in the owners manual it says to check oil level at every fill up. :emotions36:

Theres a lot going on in these modern engines. The followers, and camshafts are right under that plastic valve cover, there not stuffed deep inside a iron block like old lifters and cams.

Its amazing that they dont make more noise then they do!
