Just got a raptor!

Hey guys!

I got my raptor yesterday and I'm trying to find a way making it sounds better, Should i just change the stock muffler to the Flowmaster 40 or change the headers, pipes, and all the stuff that i have no clue what they are:shocked:?

Thanks

I have a Flowmaster super 40 single in dual out muffler welded in and dumped (turned 90° downwards). The sound is amazing.

I have the Flowmaster 44 single in and dual out. OEM from muffler back. Sound is perfect for my old ass. You jump on it and it makes real nice even noise that sounds like GET OUT OF MY WAY! At hyway speed its non obtrusive inside. Windows down and hammer time and its pretty damn load specially under overpasses! No poping or old chevy pick up with lass pack sound. Decent deep noise....... $200 installed. Its a cheap place to start.

Just freshening the string back to page one...

Got the exhaust bug and trying to figure out what I like... I'm thinking deeper tone, but not obtrusive... Damn mts up here reflect sound...

Based of the vids... (sound variables infinite) Something along the lines of magnaflow performance cat vs weld in Super 44???

Any new ideas in this sound range?

I had a complete MAC 3" headers and exhaust (no cats) on a 92 mustang 5.0 and they sounded so amazing and would always get compliments on the sound. Everyone else always ran flowmasters, so no one was use to the sound. Its been a long time since then but I would be curious to see how they sounded on a full SW set-up no cats..... I might be doing this when I get my Raptor.
Anyone else ever use MAC set-up?

Let me start by stating that I have yet to take delivery of my 2011 Raptor.

From the pictures that I have seen, as best I can tell the stock exhaust joins after the cats into a single pipe which is 3" diameter when it enters the muffler.

Isn't a single 3" pipe a little too restrictive at the upper rpm's?
A 3.5" pipe would be 36% greater cross-sectional area (But would a 3.5" pipe cause a torque reduction at lower rpm's?)

3.5 would loose way to much bottom end and then be an animal at 4500+

But the truck already is one stock...

Ur judgement call but I'd never recommend that
