Sounds like he'd be screwed if he had an aftermaket intake?

Even with the stock intake he would have been screwed if there was water present.......they were looking for a outside source that cause the motor to let go. Scary thing is that they still haven't said yes, it will be interesting to see what Ford says and if they want the computer data

so is it looking good as far as ford doing the right thing warranty wise?

As I'm understanding it, the Tech has sent that notice to Ford, telling them that he has looked for abuse or some outside source as to why the motor failed and found nothing of that nature. He described what happened to the motor and is suggesting a new long block or whole motor basically. He is waiting to see what Ford is wanting to do. Ford more than likely will be sending a engineer out to look at it and go from there........he'll be lucky to get his truck back before the new year.

The way it works with "Ford warranty" not "dealer warranty" is that the dealer actually foots the bill for the repair and Ford will reimburse the dealership for parts and labor. However, for that to happen Ford has to give the ok..........

Well the problem is that my buddy isn't being aggressive with it. This is going on three weeks and they haven't even offered him a loaner or rent a car. He's telling me that he doesn't want to **** them off and they deny his warranty. I was trying to explain it doesn't work like that......but in the end its his truck and he can do what he wants, but I know I'd be raising hell and I hate to see them walk all over him

The dealer has to ask permission to tear the motor down warranty or customer pay. The dealer doesn't know if it's going to be a warranty job until the tech does the initial diag on the truck and Ford makes the call. I will look and see but I believe the 6.2L is a replace as an assembly so the truck will be getting a new complete block.

Just playing devils advocate here... but this approach almost hints he could have done something to cause this....

I highly doubt that's the case but just sayin'.
