I don't know why people want long tubes on a raptor. Most four wheeling is done at lower RPM's so that the short tube headers would be advantageous. Just a thought.

What are these "lower RPMs" you speak of? All the raptor runs I've been a part of you spend most of your time 4,000-6,000 rpm, usually in 3rd gear, sometimes 4th

I think the question is, how do you pass inspection? Don't you have to go to a special inspection hub in California?

Yeah, you have to go to a smog shop every other year (except on new vehicles, you get 6 years after the year of manufacture before you have to smog them) where they visually inspect the vehicle, test the vehicle's emissions, test the fuel system for leaks, and check the control modules for any emissions related codes, among other things depending on the vehicle, during the visual inspection if non-CARB legal modifications are found on the vehicle you can be failed and not be able to register your vehicle until it passes

Just need to keep this thread up and running so SW will do something about it. I have tried 3 times, freedom motor sports had tried and we never seem to get enough people to put up the deposit for SW to make shorties. They said it would only take 10 ppe and tehy wouls make them too... :( :( :(

6 years it's long enough to make the mods, enjoy the truck and then sell it for someone else's problem. I'm surprised that it's that long of a grace period.

I've also tried to drum up old threads and made new ones to get enough deposits for short tubes. They always start out with a lot of steam but taper off.

I see a lot of guys in Cali on here getting headers... I guess they just plan on dealing with smog issues after the 6 years?

Maybe we need someone that will be responsible to take the deposits and get in contact with SW when we have enough. Wonder if FRF could be the one. I would guess that the trust factor comes in here about giving your money to someone of the forum to hold. I dont know the answer.. I know freedom motor had interest to get this shorty thing going. Maybe he is willing to hold deposits?

That's a good idea. Something different definitely needs to happen to get this off the ground.

And I'm almost certain that if SW brought them into production they would sell extremely well. Just need the initial startup for R&D.
