@ 430 hp and only 475 lb-ft....i guess the V8 in Raptor crowd will pipe down

I asked this in a separate thread, but this one is more popular so asking again: Is it really outside the realm of possibility that Ford would/could swap the cam on this 7.3 to make it a high performer?

A simple, reliable engine is exactly what the Raptor needs IMO (but it also has to perform). I think I'd prefer that route than the 5.2 GT500 engine honestly.

I would say highly unlikely. I just don't see Ford putting a NA V8 in the Raptor since at best it would be a fairly small performance improvement over the 3.5EB. If the Raptor was to get a V8 I really think the GT500 engine would be the one to put in it. 700+HP sells trucks much more than say 485HP, but it sounds good.

It's an internal combustion engine. Everything you can do to make more top end power on other engines will work on it just as well. More aggressive cams, shortening the intake runners, more timing, head work, larger air intakes and better exhaust. If that still isn't enough, just take the "easy route" and add forced induction.

Ford had the experimental "777 engine" built by Roush during development of the 6.2L. It had 700 HP at 7000 RPMs with 7L of displacement, and was naturally aspirated.

They could get 500+ HP from the 7.3L without too much effort. A blower on top would yield 750 HP easy, and probably more given that factory boost levels are typically 15+ PSI nowadays. It'd have torque for days from idle to redline with zero lag.

I was talking more about the plausibility of Ford doing it. Everybody seems to be like "Nope, this is a truck engine, not built for the Raptor", when in my mind it could be tailored to the Raptor. But I'm not a mechanic so I was asking. Maybe swapping cams and tuning is a lot of work, idk.

Your reading comprehension sucks.

Let me make it clear for you:

2) With a blower, it'd completely stomp the TT V6 into the ground from idle to redline.

3) Both setups would be far less complex and way more reliable than a twin turbo DOHC engine.

What is this, 2001? Are we really going to argue modded vs stock? As in, "if you put X parts on X car, it would totally beat Y, which is bone stock?

Are you going to lecture me on "I should just bought a fox body mustang if I wanted to go fast"?

Throw a set of full race turbos, a front mount, downpipes/exhaust, E85 tune and make 1k hp on the 3.5 tt. Call the cops, I dont even give a ****.

Yes, they could drop in the GT engine. It would never pass truck durability testing though. They could though- if they wanted to degrade their reputation for building a reliable truck.
