Yeah big difference between stock and these retros.

I do have a few minor gripes tho.

1. It is obvious that the len's were made for cars that sit lower then big ass wide trucks.
  • a. side coverage is not as good as stock, but up front it is night and day. You can sorta tell by the angle of light that they are designed to sit much lower then where they sit in our raptors.
  • b. I think our raptors are a bit to wide for the beam pattern as well (again because these are car lens) so it ends up having a "double hump" which isnt a huge deal and can be tweaked out a bit with adjustments.
2. I had some dust and water marks on the back of my lens. (was a bit disappointed but ill live).

All that being said im still glad i got the new lights, they are way way better then stock as far as visibility, and a huge improvement in the looks department. And ducati is pretty kick ass to deal with (he is more then willing to go the extra mile on things). Def A++ type of shit going on here.
The "double hump" in the light is normal. When both aimed straight ahead the humps would be offset by the same width between the lights. Look at any HID projector light pics.

Not sure about the side lighting. I would think the only way to really improve that is with larger projectors/lenses that can throw more light out at a steeper angle. Would mean a lot more work to retro.

Yes the step downs are north american standard. its so you get a little more distance in your lane but dont blind oncoming traffic.

This is not the best pic but it gives you a idea of how they should be aligned.

I completely understand the step, but in every other hid equipped vehicle (granted this is my first retrofit) the step only existed in the driver side lens, the passenger side did not have the step. So what happens when you have two steps is you end up with some hot spots where they overlap at a distance. Not really a huge issues at all given that the light output on the retrofits is so much better then stock but still just one of the things i noticed. I really wish those damn ls460's would have worked. I would imagine they would be a lot better and the lens design is probably closer to our use case then the current lens (which were no doubt designed for a lower narrower car vs a large lifted/wide truck).

I say keep up the good work, and see if u cant figure out how to make those ls460's work!

Ill mess around with them again tomorrow. Problem is there is no real way to mount them besides a shit load of epoxy and that will be visible. Also, they are so big its a very tight fit, actually some of the back of the headlight housing should be cut out to get them to sit far enough back to clear the lens.

Its one of those things where I would totally do it for myself, like I did with the recons but I never did the recons again because it was so much of a PITA.

I'll keep at it though, just dont have a whole lot of time at the moment. Im sure its possible, it will just come down to how much money do you guys want to pay to make it worth the time.

Time to bust out some fiber glas maybe? Or a torch and some plastic sheet?
