Caveman tire clearance method. I bolted up the 2011 F150 tire/wheel; (285/70/17 on 17x7.5 44mm offset), the 2011 Raptor tire/wheel; (315/70/17 on 17x8.5 34mm offset) a 35" tire on a Method 17x8 (0mm offset), and a 37" tire on the same Raptor wheel. Hilarity ensues. First, the baby tire & wheel.

Next, the OEM gear. It pinched the plastic, but not the sheetmetal.

A 35" tire on a Method 17x8.5, with 0mm offset. I think I can live with this setup if I don't huck it, and not bend metal.

A 37" tire on the OEM wheel. Full droop vs stuffed. Uptravel decreased by about 1". It fit like a fat girl in a Prius.

Side views of the original gear, the 35" on the Method, and the original wheel with a 37. Since there isn't a factory bumpstop I just stopped when the tread pinched the plastic. But it's clear the factory gear WILL hit metal if you test it. The purpose was to cycle the Method wheel and see if it will not punish the fenders during normal, sane driving. Looks like it passes the test!
