" the only engine I can think of that has a displacement in the 10s is the chevy 350, which is not that great of an engine"

Ahhhh to young and dumb! HAHaaaaa.

I bet there are 1/2 a dozen 350 GM motors within 6 blocks of where you live that COULD SPANK our 379's. That 350 has been put in so many REAL FAST CARS over the years its just silly for ANYONE to call it NOT THAT GREAT OF AN ENGINE.

Jesus boy, they put them in Mustangs to make them go fast at the drag strip. Haaaaaaa. They are a dime a dozen and until all the technology of the last 10 years came into play. That motor was on the top of the list for most hot rod on a budget builds because there are MILLIONS on MILLIONS of the 350's out there and it is CHEAP to make one preform. The more parts to produce, the cheaper each part costs.

I think the 350 has been pushed as far as ANY motor can be pushed because EVERY real Shop has tweeked them and built them and got every INCH of performance out of them so guy's like us can go to Napa or even a dealer or grab a Summit or Jegs catalogue and build a rocket for less than a set of Method Wheels and Toyo 37's cost! HAhaaaa. Man I wish I was 21 again. HAhaaaaa.

Yeah the 350 may be one of the best all around motors ever built. That's taking into account power and cost to make more power as well as how simple it is to find parts. Ive seen a lot of 350's in the place of a 302's in mustangs....

The only reason it's a good engine is because it's been around forever and has all the mods that amount of time will accumulate, all the other engines mentioned have more potential than the 350, there just aren't the mods out there to make it accessible to everyone, and I've seen a zr1 get spanked by a supercharged v6, they aren't as fast as everyone dreams they are

Also there's the 7.0L naturally aspirated version of the 6.2L we have that ran an 8.73 in the 1/4 mile

And how much did that motor cost to build? HAhaaaa. More Speed + more money. I am no rocket scientist but it takes like 5 hp to push a modern car 60mph, then 60 hp to push that same car to 80 and then 150 to push it to 130 and then like 300 to push it 165 and then 450 to push it to 180 and then 500 or 600 or 700 hp to push it to 190 mph.

Don't take it personal my friend. I am bord and your post was handy! AHahhaaa. Its just that the Chevy 350, oh pardon me, the 5.7 Liter or 5700 CC motor has been around about 28-30 years longer than you have been alive! AHhaaaa. Oh and per a conversion chart, 6.2 is actually 378.3 liters.

I like the CC ratings. How bout THAT on the side of the Raptor Door.

SVT 6200 CC's / SVT 378.3

I just looked in a new Jeggs Book. Rounded numbers. A complete ready to go 350 motor with 385 Hp and 385 Ft / lbs is $5500. A complete LS7 427 motor with 505 Hp and 470 Ft /lbs is $14,000. So who can spend $5500? Lots of folks. Who can spend $14,000. A few.

Also what looks better in an engine compartment? A CLASSIC V 8 with valve cover and wires and an air cleaner or a mass of plastic and electrical conectors and valve covers that look like cake pans for a kids Suzy Bake oven or a Jello mold? HAhaaaa.

P.S. For the OLD guy's on here. Remember Clifford Research? Their motto was 6 = 8. They use to claim they could beat any V 8 with one of their Straight 6 motors. HAhaaaa. Supercharged and what not Straight 6's sound wicked!
