You will have to give FCA The credit for going with coils out in the rear first. And the coil multi link setup to my knowledge was developed in conjunction with Daimler when they owned Chrysler some years back.

Pretty amazing the coil rear still only has basically the same travel as our Gen2 leaf spring rear. Is that all that’s needed according to the Raptor benchmark? Not to say the coil/multi link doesn’t fix other issues.
Not having coils in the rear never hurt the raptor, raptor sales or performance.

I really loved the concept TRX but the actual truck disappoints.

The raptors performance is clearly aimed at off road and the TRX (with its launch control, 0-60 time emphasis) is aimed at the street. I bet it won’t take long for a few of these to do a dukes of hazard bridge jump and end up totaled with some yob behind the wheel.

700+ hp is pretty useless on the dirt for a non-race truck.

I passed on a power wagon because of the weird coil over truck bed design. I wish Ford would not do this, since leaf springs are a proven design for hauling and load bearing.

Didn't watch their release video till last night. Too much hype for me, and too much comparing themselves to the Raptor. I get that it's the natural competitor, but it seems like the only reason the TRX exists, and has the features it has, is to beat out the Raptor.

In contrast, you didn't see Ford blatantly try and one up Wrangler with their Bronco. Yes, they are competitors, but the Bronco is it's own unique vehicle, with similarities to the Wrangler, but not a direct copy cat. At least, it doesn't feel that way.

Anyway, back on Raptor/TRX, competition is good, but I really don't want to see a battle where RAM and Ford try and one up each other at every turn, rather than make vehicles that people want to buy. I don't want to see a Gen 3 V8 Raptor priced above $70k with no other improvements...just to get more HP than TRX. I'd much prefer to see a $50k Raptor with improvements everywhere and relatively mild HP improvements. Or both.

I dont see it competing much with the Raptor at that price point. This will be a very limited vehicle with a limited number of buyers. I could see Ford stepping up to compete with the TRX with a supercharged V8, but that would probably debut as a special edition and close to 100k.

For now I don't really see this as real competition for the Gen2 Raptors. Mainly due to price and not to mention the weight.

I think they made the Rebel look better, which I don't think looks great in the first place. But I see a lot of styling cues from the Raptor. IMO The Gen 2 Raptor looks way better with the angular styling.

If a new TRX was priced 75k and a new Gen 2 Raptor 802A was 75k I'm still taking the Raptor.

Thats it angular! The TRX is just very round and bubbly to me. I wanted to like the looks of it and wanted it to be a crazy option as I had a Ram before. I will have to see one in person, but it’s not super exciting to look at. Beyond the hood it gets basic. The Raptor is still the looker IMO.

Is that denial? Hey if this truck was a date and it appears to have some great features, but I’d still have to call it a butterface. Would I date it? Maybe so, but keep it? Dunno.

Following your analogy, I would really need to get a good look under the hood. Don't tell me it's spectacular, I want to see for myself. And a locking tailgate is important. Also, I'm not buying unseen. I want a test drive, or multiple test drives maybe, before I buy.
