I just read an article on the TRX and saw some pictures. The best I can say is I'm not very impressed. The jump detection is neat but the appearance is not inspiring, to say the least. And with the starting price right around the cost of a pretty well-equipped Raptor, I can't see them taking over much market share from the Raptor. Throw in all of the first-year issues that seem to pop up and I don't see it being a legit contender in sales numbers.

Add in the 700hp and I think we'll see a fair amount of them that get run up trees and phone poles. If you want a burnout machine, get a regular Charger with a 392 or the Hellcat version. Unless there are some major driving nannies, and I thought I would never say this, I'm thinking 700hp is going to just be too much for most people and cause a lot of crashes. And burning up those 35s will be something you do once.

At the end of the day, it's a Ram with a lift kit and a supercharger. If it's your cup of tea, cool. I'm happy with my Raptor.

You realize it can't be driven in 2WD correct?

You also realize it weighs 6500 lbs corect?

Yeah its got 700hp...but its no more overwhelming in the grand scheme of things than a 1000TQ F350 turbo diesel.....

I thought same thing when the hellfats came out, then I drove em......yeah they're definitely quick & have a lot of power but are SOOOOOOO heavy that it makes the HP more manageable & less intimidating than it "looks on paper" You know whats EQUALLY true for "no replacement for displacement"? No magic fix for obesity lol - in a way, the "lack of displacement" in terms of sheer mass can also not be replicated. Its the reason why a Challenger hellfat would have a tough time keeping up w/ an M2 around a racetrack.....

WTF. I just built it like mine and came up with a price of $94,000 with tax!!! I can't see how this can compete with the Raptor.

Those lights aren't there to copy the Raptor, they are there because the law requires them for vehicles of a certain width, which the TRX has. So basically, they could put them on the roof like the most vehicles, on the grill like a Raptor, or do something different. Although I don't really care for the lights in the hood scoop, I appreciate an attempt to be original.

you sure? I figured if that was true , they’d be illuminated ALL of the time and we wouldn’t have members using Forscan for the mod

What do you really need 702 hp for if you are actually off-roading your truck? My 2020 feels plenty powerful for everything I do from runs to a little bit of crawling while still having a 650 mile fuel range on the highway. Seems to be RAM's typical solution, throw horsepower and a 12" screen at everyone and they'll pay $100K (after mark ups) for Bilsteins. Still think the Raptor is the better all around truck, I'd look at a power wagon before the TRX since I don't feel the impulse to drag race rice rockets and Corvette's at every stop light. YMMV

Same suspension travel (13.0/13.9 Raptor vs 13.0/14.0 TRX), smaller shocks (3.0 Raptor vs 2.5 TRX) and 550 lbs heavier (5800 lbs Raptor vs 6350 lbs TRX) crew cab to crew cab.

On top of that, less gear in final drive (4.10:1 Raptor vs 3.55:1 TRX), less gear in transmission (10 speed Raptor vs 8 speed TRX), less tire sidewall (17” wheel raptor vs 18” wheel TRX) and weaker bead lock capable wheel (forged aluminum Raptor vs cast aluminum TRX)

That V8 sound though with launch control (for that pavement use on a off-road truck) and flat bottom steering wheel.

Overall it’s nice. Unfortunately, it seems that true high speed off road capability hasn’t been improved upon. Matter of fact, in some ways it might be worse - 2.5” shocks (need to see the real world capability of those bilsteins), weight (despite what Dodge is trying to tell you, power alone doesn’t overcome all obstacles) and no true front limited slip (Torsen Raptor vs open TRX). The rear coil spring setup is the most interesting thing going on and could legitimately be better.

Would anyone be impressed if Ford just upped the power, went to coil springs in the rear and kept the same suspension travel while stepping down to 2.5” shocks for the 3rd gen Raptor (but it has a V8). Yeah, didn’t think so...

So because I don’t have a lot else to do, I thought I’d stir the pot a little. Anybody think that the Hellcat TRX will have any impact on the Raptor resale value?
Might make it more valuable if you think about it 98k for a truck is a lot of money and besides who will actually use that much hp to justify cost I'll stick with my raptor for now !
