Back in the fall I priced out a 20 and worked the dealer down to 69 pretty much loaded) out the door (invoice). Didn’t pull the trigger wanted to wait for TRX/gen 3 battle and I’m happy with my current vehicle.

Just priced out a TRX at $89k. If Ford keeps the 3.5, improves on the numbers even if they don’t meet the same HP as the TRX but keep that price difference I’ll go Gen 3 over TRX. If Ford raises the price to the point it’s on par with the TRX and keeps the 3.5 I’d strongly consider the TRX.

3.5 with 600HP, less weight and lower cost all day over the TRX.

Am I the only one who finds the TRX styling a little... underwhelming? The original concept vehicle was very aggressive looking and fit the tone of the truck. Maybe its just that we haven't fully seen it in metal but to me it just looks like a regular rebel with a more rounded face. I think the Gen2 will hold up fine in the looks department for a long time...

I agree. Thought it was just bland when I saw it. The renderings of late really had this truck looking like a beast. And at times, FCA can be on point with looks. I said it looks like a Rebel grown up and fattened, with a fancy hood. I even heard this reference on a Dodge site. I would have been a lot more impressed if it was more of a looker.

So the Gen 5 Rams are about two large analog gages and a center display on the dash. Now that’s something of a Ford ripoff. I like Fords new full digital approach. And rather have a more customizable dash.

I just read an article on the TRX and saw some pictures. The best I can say is I'm not very impressed. The jump detection is neat but the appearance is not inspiring, to say the least. And with the starting price right around the cost of a pretty well-equipped Raptor, I can't see them taking over much market share from the Raptor. Throw in all of the first-year issues that seem to pop up and I don't see it being a legit contender in sales numbers.

Add in the 700hp and I think we'll see a fair amount of them that get run up trees and phone poles. If you want a burnout machine, get a regular Charger with a 392 or the Hellcat version. Unless there are some major driving nannies, and I thought I would never say this, I'm thinking 700hp is going to just be too much for most people and cause a lot of crashes. And burning up those 35s will be something you do once.

At the end of the day, it's a Ram with a lift kit and a supercharger. If it's your cup of tea, cool. I'm happy with my Raptor.

Is anyone actually surprised on the numbers ? FCA has done this for years and the marketing works for their clientele.

This thing will go fast in a straight line only, despite the marketing. Love the “Raptor” amber lights they have in the hood ...

The fact that they have a sampling of how the engine sounds on their website speaks volumes ....

Half the presentation was about V8 sound, hear that rumble, V8 V8 V8! Childish to some extent. There are guys with money burning a hole in there pocket to have that sound and they know it. Taking shots at the Gen2.

Those lights aren't there to copy the Raptor, they are there because the law requires them for vehicles of a certain width, which the TRX has. So basically, they could put them on the roof like the most vehicles, on the grill like a Raptor, or do something different. Although I don't really care for the lights in the hood scoop, I appreciate an attempt to be original.
