Yeah C8s have tanked. They will probably have a pretty stable still pricey bottom (over 50K for good examples), but the days of 90K used C8s are long gone. People who paid 130K for 2020 C8s have sure learned a lesson...as have the people who paid 250K for ZO6s. Anyone who picks up a $60K well optioned low mile c8 did things correctly.

I wonder how the ZR1 will perform long term as far as retaining value is concerned.

I think unless there is something beyond the ZR1 that is a considerable upgrade, it should hold MSRP value or stay 150K+. The C7 ZR1 values might not be the best comparison as it was the ultimate front engine vette that will ever be. The C9 Z06 will probably outperform the ZR1 C8. Goes to show it has nothing to do with 0-60 (look at tesla) a base C8 would give a C7 ZR1 a serious challenge and yet one is 120K and the other can be had for 55K.

I disagree I have had lots of Corvette the C7ZR1 is 755HP the base C8 base 490HP not even close in performance. C7ZR1 will hold value for a long time it's a one year production run. C8 Base are a dime a dozen and the C8Z06 is not far behind. All Zr1 models hold their value you will not see any C8ZR1 selling at 150K maybe in 6 or 7 years. As soon as it hits the market with markup 250 plus for sure. You will not see any C8ZR1 for MSRP that laughable to think that.

If it’s not a financial strain I would do the R

I’m 8k miles in with mine and 0 regrets. It moves through normal tasks with ease vs the ecoboost. Honestly the truck feels more luxurious with a V8.

Congrats on the new truck! If you enjoy the 37PP, the R offers extra performance, but if you have other fast cars, it might not be a must. It’s a great upgrade for off-road excitement.

You didn’t quite read all of what I wrote, and took a lot out of context. I wasn’t talking about total performance, I was making a jab at tesla and 0-60 only. Yes a base c8 will absolutely give a c7Zr1 a run for its money or even beat it from 0-60, but that isn’t the full story …obviously. The main idea was that 0-60 numbers or numbers in general no longer are fascinating to car enthusiasts for long term residual values. However, Id argue a C8 exceeds the C7ZR1 in a lot of categories not just 0-60. As a fastest on the track weapon, yes the C7ZR1 is faster than a base C8 obviously (cup 2 Rs sure don't hurt). All corvettes depreciate....in the mid term(8-15years)....they just build too many of them.
