Only the larger lights such as the LP4, 6, 9, to my knowledge, have the backround amber light. Have a look at Rigid background lights and you will see how much nicer and brighter they are.
That said, I still feel BD are better lights.
If you look above at BD's explanation, they state the XL80 doesn't have the background amber light, nor do any of their lights that are shaped in that way.
Keep in mind that the LP series (4, 6, 9 - the amount of lights in each housing ever increasing in size) have side glass on both sides and the inner side will absolutely blind you. It requires a plastic insert which I believe is sold separately.
Also, if you plan on getting lights on the A pillar such as shown above, I'd go with clear. While amber may be slightly better in fog, and that's debatable as there are videos that show a marginal difference, high mounted lights on A pillar are useless against fog. I have amber and am just too lazy to buy and swap to clear though I'd like to.
