Folks will also have limited options in 2021. Stealership ordered vehicles have all the great money making options - graphics, moon roof, top package, sometimes the skimp on carbon etc. but they go big for big profits. My saleswoman put a downpayment on a house after selling my Raptor to me in ’17.

I disagree. If you walked into a stealership and found one with no moon roof, but everything else the truck would sell itself. It would with probably 85% of the consumers. VERY, VERY few Raptor buyers think the moon roof is a “must have”. Conversely, many here didn’t care one way or the other. And, despite what some of us think or have the impression, it isn’t going to fall out under hard off roading. Yeah, it’s going to make more noise and the track system is a bit on the fragile side but if we ( me included ) maintain it, then breakage becomes far less likely.

This is exactly how I ended up with a moonroof equipped truck. My previous car was getting expensive to maintain and I didn’t want to keep dumping money into it as it continued it’s downward spiral of depreciation. That put me in the Raptor market about 2 years sooner than I expected and in the hot, “ADM or die” market. I did manage to score MSRP in late December of ’16, picked up in Mid January. That truck with moonroof, graphics was cheaper than a closer truck with neither because the stealership closer was greedy.

Resale is tricky, if there are enough reliability concerns, you can either get less for or nothing for an option like this. I don’t think I’ve seen that yet with the Rap, but there’s a lot of F150 users with moonroof complaints, breakages, etc. Youtube is littered with videos about it. But, in context of how many trucks Ford sells it’s a small number.

If you’re in the Raptor market in ’21, you’re likely either
1) paying ADM over MSRP
or
2) getting a moon roof truck.

Just like 2017.

stealerships are shady. I had one lined up to order one like I wanted at MSRP but when I got there the song changed to $10k over.
too bad, so sad because I bought for MSRP somewhere else.
No adm here.

My current truck (2019) was $70,940 MSRP I think (802A, tech packge, tailgate step, moonroof).
Looks like the equivalent 2021 is $72220. (801A, tailgate step, moonroof).

So a $1280 price increase over two years on a different generation.

The "new Raptor costs $10,000 more" statement made by mags in insanely misleading.

Yes, you can option the !$%* out of it to get it into TRX territory, but Ford doesn't seem to have jack the prices on equivalent 2021s vs 2020s, other than via the deletion of less optioned models and the SCAB.

Everyone pricing out their dream truck keeps forgetting the $10-20k dealer markup.

Even if you custom order your truck. It is up to dealer discretion if they want to sell to you.

Anyone that pays $1-20k dealer markup either has enough money to simply not care or is a complete moron.

After buying my truck new ($1500 under sticker in Orange County, CA), I found a $20,000 ADM sticker that had been on it in the glovebox.

And buying in socal and not traveling out of state to get one was a convenience/cost-of-time thing, could've got invoice out of state.

Are you suggesting that once it is ordered and deposit paid, that once it is delivered, they could still sell it to someone else?

No.

The true morons will be the people who go ahead and order the 37s package despite that horrific interior, thereby giving Ford a false validation of their poor design decisions.

Yeah. I said it. If you order the 37s, you are dumb and make bad decisions.

Sure. The deal isn't final till you've signed all the paperwork. I don't think they'd be able to go back on a handshake deal, but if the buyer's credit went south, or there was some mix up on price and options or something, then the dealer would just sell it on the lot.
