I'm tempted to make a calendar reminder in a few years for us all to come back and make fun of this particular claim, but honestly he's not worth our time. But then again I do love winning arguments, especially easy ones.

The Cyclone motor is NOT going to cut it going forward in the Raptor no matter how much you need to defend you purchase decision.

A ton of people just like you on here (Gen 2 owners derrr) GUARANTEED the V8 would never come back. You were all wrong.

A ton of people just like you on here (Gen 2 owners derrr) GUARANTEED the V8 would never come back. You were all wrong.

In 2017 I had a good source tell me (obviously now) that the v8 would make a return. However, the v6 is is here to stay. And even if the R was a 10k option (probably going to be 20k with other R bells and whistles...along with 10k+ adm) the v6 will still outsell the v8 by a long shot. 450+ hp is more than enough power and coupled with great mileage. 700 hp is TT numbers and would probably get you in BIG trouble in the desert [emoji23]
One more thing to take in account, the younger generation now days like the v6 sound over a v8. Days of the v8 are definitely numbered.
With that being said, I am stoked for the R option and may even finally upgrade (even to a 21) I think the gen 3 more resembles the gen 1 and maybe that’s why I like it so much and the jennys are complaining.

Which is crazy. I bet they wish it were an EV as well.

I will wait to see all specs and drive before giving my opinion on the truck BUT I think way too many get hung up on horsepower and v8 vs v6 ect. What gear ratio will they use? Different for 3.5 vs V8? Different if you choose 37” tires? Ford can outdo the 702 hp TRX with less hp if they use the correct set up. Lower gears with 37’s could perform very well. The R version may have more hp and higher gear ratio like the TRX. I guess we’ll wait and see.

The V8s sound like a great idea, until the customer looks at the window sticker and sees 10/14 MPG with the accompanying gas guzzler tax.

It’s funny you say that, to the dismay of you V6 fanboys, that’s what my 2020 Gen 2 gets in fuel economy. Unless you baby the EB, the MPG is no different than what you can get with a V8. Wait until guys run the 37 package on the Gen 3 with the V6. The fuel economy will be close to the Raptor R :33:

you must drive that thing like you stole it. i never rest my fuel average calculator since i got the truck new and after 3000 miles im averaging 16.5 and that mostly driving around town and running errands with very little highway.
