Man I don't think this is a fail at all. We may have been focused on hearing about the R version today but really there was a lot of content once you slow down and look over things. The only thing we missed today was the BFV8 and instead we got to wait until 2022, not that big of a deal. the rest of the truck upgrades look fantastic.

The 5link is much more than a step change. A 5 link is a 40-50K mod on the Gen2 given the Curry, gas tank relocation, shocks and trailing arms etc.

The woes of going to 37s are small if you know what you're doing. We can now go to 39's easily.

For the stock truck performance, I'd argue it isn't a huge upgrade. Edit: Watching this video, I'd say it was even less than I expected. For aftermarket considerations, absolutely - that's something I wasn't thinking of, glad you pointed it out.

Going 37s on a 2010-2020 Raptor meant new fenders (or lots of trimming) and would result in premature failure of drivetrain components, no matter how well thought out it was carried out. It was significant enough of a barrier that many - myself included - won't do it. The factory offering a package will save the customer a lot of money and headache, and - like you said - make upgrading to even bigger tires possible.

One more edit: Stock Gen 2 going through the whoops for comparison

I don't think the Gen 3 Raptor is the bust but the reveal video certainly was. As I said in another thread the Bronco reveal is how Ford should do all video reveals in the future. My concern is that the V8 we're getting is the same one in the GT500 which will be limited by the niche lines ability to produce them. Pairing it with the Raptor R, which is likely, will create crazy ADMs.

Haha such a troll thread. Gen 3 comes out and outclasses the TRX in the area that matters most...suspension (cause you know the TRX didn’t do shit to outclass the Gen 2 suspension wise, unless a heavier truck with smaller shocks and the same amount of travel is better to you) and the flat earthers/mouth breathers still cry about a V8 they’ll never buy. I hear Dodge is putting the hellcat in a riding lawn mower. #Yeemotherfuckinghaw

I'm happy with it. You really need to go to your Ford dealership and sit down in a new 21 f150 to really appreciate the new interior. It really is night and day when you go back and forth. I am very happy with the interior and am looking forward to getting it in a new raptor.

yep, these are offroad trucks. Ram can drag race all they want, but the real test will be a baja race. its like saying a challenger can out-tow a mustang. that's not what they are built for.

I don’t think it was a bust at all. Greatly improved rear suspension, 37” tires from the factory, and confirmed V8 option next year all sound great to me. Just means i’ll drive the Gen2 I have for a little longer, but that’s not a bad thing. If the R pans out, i’d say that Ford has finally listened.
Exactly! It was a slam dunk!

The suspension in action looks remarkably similar to my stock 17. It is better, to be sure, but not nearly as much as the upgrades would lead me to believe. Of particular note is the 4 wheel rebound hop on the jump at 2:38.

I don't know what to think. Obviously aftermarket potential is much higher, but stock performance gains seem a lot smaller than I'd have wagered.

I was preaching how revolutionary the Fox Live valves would be, but I must confess after riding in a 2019, the gains were minimal.
