2021 F150 "work truck" faster than a Raptor.

I look at it like, wouldn’t they hold out on it especially w/ the TRX release? Add suspense, keep people guessing, I’d bet you my truck Ford won’t have a bit of a problem selling these Gen3 Raptors- they don’t need to worry bout increasing sales or raising more interest- the sales & interest are already there w/ the TRX available or not

and if they’re putting bigger snails on & bumping it to 525-550hp & 600tq (I truly believe this to be the case) - THAT will be just bout enough to stay w/ a TRX on the street, a gen2 is already better offroad so that will be covered & then some w/ the “base” gen 3- MANY people (myself included) prefer/like the 3.5tt HO more than a Ford V8, and for those that need to have the top dog? The Raptor R w/ 5.2 SCd V8 is gonna scratch that itch & then some, & while weighing 1000lbs less than a TRX w/ more power & TQ, I think it’s going to be a blood bath in every measure.

my only questions on the Raptor-R would be- I wonder if they’ll employ the dual clutch tranny from the GT500 as well & put those shift paddles finally to good use....& what if they get real cute & add a 17” carbon fiber wheel option? That’ll make adding any 37”s you want a lot less painful in terms of performance hit & will really make the thing feel quick in short bursts

Cant wait to see what they do- like I keep saying the bigger turbos really makes the most sense - needs to have more power than the gen2 & more power/TQ then a powerboost F150, 500-550hp & 600tq would be the minimum IMHO

The Tremec 7 speed from the GT500 is designed for car applications. The max GVWR is only 5200lbs, which is less than even an empty SuperCab Raptor.

lol damn well that won’t work

would be cool though!!! Funny sounds like it wouldn’t even be ideal for a charger Hellcat w/ 4 Midwestern adults riding lol

I do think a “carbon package” on a Raptor-R that included carbon fiber wheels would be a very worthwhile option box to check off....maybe a more significant performance upgrade on the Raptor platform vs even the GT500 given the unsprung weight penalty a Raptor riding on 37”s carries (hell even the 35”s @ 100lbs a corner)

Carbon fiber wheels on an off-road truck? Not happening.

What if the Raptor R isn't an off-road truck, but a Raptor body with street tires, lower weight, etc just for a better 0-60 times? I know it won't happened, wouldn't want it to...but the reactions here would be priceless.

why not? Stronger & lighter

ohhh, so the method & icon bling bling twinky twinky 20”s are “good” for offroad use but 17” carbon wheels wouldn’t be? You’d prefer heavier forged AL 17”s?

not that it’ll matter much in a 760hp truck- but would help in mpg/range too.

Are you aware in the more extreme ATV/UTV offroad scene multi piece carbon composite headlock wheels are already being used? My buddy has some on his Razr. Hiper carbon or hyper I dunno the exact name but I’m sure google machine will yield some results

I would think it would need to become much more common and affordable as an after market option before Ford puts it on a stock truck.

It ain’t common or affordable period on any vehicle including even exotics, which is why it was such a big deal they put em on the GT500.....but considering there’s only a handful of places that produces CF wheels & Ford has already contracted w/ an Australian company to produce wheels for the GT500 (along w/ other CF parts) I would imagine that would make the possibility of having a set designed for one of their true low production halo vehicles more viable- and since I’m guessing the Raptor-R is going to have an MSRP a good bit higher than the GT500....CF wheels may be completely justifiable & would be a nice lil nod to the connection between the 2 vehicles

I mean it’s all conjecture at this point, but it is something I think is possible

here’s a link to some beadlock capable carbon fiber UTV wheels off fleabay....I think these are similar to what my buddy’s running on his rig

Doesn't really change my thinking on that. As you said, it possible, but doesn't seem likely. I still think Ford would go with a typical wheel and let the aftermarket develop it, do the real world testing for offroad on a full size truck, and bring the price down more...before they did it themselves. But sure, I could be wrong.

Remember what the video delivers. Two stock pick up trucks as they are configured from the factory going head to head. In the end the Powerboost was the winner. Crying about tire size and such sounds like a Chevy guy complaining that his V-8 got smoked by an eco-boost because he doesn't have twin turbos. The bragging rights of having one of, if not the fastest production truck 0-60 with the Raptor is gone. I think the sweet part about the video is the fact on 2 of 3 races the TRX fell on its face.

This is perfect ^^^^. The two Fords could swap wheels/tires and the Raptor would eat it, but that doesn't affect the video at all. The only worthwhile fact I saw was the TurdRex is a literal POS.
