Really it’s possibly that easy? I guess I spent too much time glancing over all the upgrade details for the older systems. I was just going to wait the update out from Ford, but if it’s going to be months I may try this soon as well.

Most of the instructions are for people with older Sync (before 3.2). If you scroll to the bottom it says “- If you have a current Ford vehicle which is either Sync 3 Version 3.2 or Version 3.3 just perform this step...” which is just download Sync 3.4 to a USB and install it.

I haven’t tried it but will probably soon.

Let us know how it goes. If it's that easy I'll do it for sure.

It is that easy. I did all steps except for step 1 which is to upgrade the firmware. I used 3 usb sticks, and even then it was super easy. As the instructions state, if you have v.3.2 or higher, YOU ONLY NEED TO DO USB3. Siimple.

What new on it? I can't seem to find a list of new features.

The whole look is different, you can change backgrounds, the unit seems more responsive, you can swipe through the presets instead of clicking presets then selecting, automatic daylight saving, and more that I'm forgetting.

On my 17 I can change interior lighting colors, is this retained with the update? Kids love changing the colors.

I believe that option is available on the 17s only. Could be wrong.

3.4 is not available to older cars yet.

‘19 only has the blue lighting. But I’m cool with it. I played with a 3.4 Sync system In a new Lincoln. Was a nice upgrade, but don’t know if certain things are for linc’s only. Then again FORScan could correct that ;) If the hardware is the same anyway.
