I have a 2014 Gen1 with 60k miles on it. The truck has never let me down, runs like a top and I have no complaints. I am seeing that dealers are finally willing to deal on the new Gen2 trucks and I’m tempted to get a truck in white vs the black (mine is black).
If you’re asking this question with your out loud keystrokes, and you’re not just making a clickbait post, then there’s something making you ask the question. So you say you have no complaints, but you’re looking at getting a white vs. black truck. I think if you honestly thought this out there’s probably more, possibly little things that don’t amount to much but some other things that are inclining you to consider a new purchase. You need to be honest with yourself about what makes you want to have a new Raptor.
I’m guessing it would be about a 25k difference in cost between my used one and a new one. My question for the group is would I be better off spending say 10-15k on mods for my Gen1 (upgrading shocks, bigger lighter wheels, more lights, new bumpers, etc) or getting the new truck?
If it’s either/or, that is, you cannot manage to keep both, then you have to look to what you want to do, your want / need vs cost analysis, and the WTF factor. Keep in mind, unless you’re sitting on a pile of “mods” cash or you’re willing to refinance, the “10-15k” in mods is not something that will transform your truck overnight or make it that different. And maybe that’s good, because if you have no complaints, that’s a good thing. OTOH, it’s not high praise either. Think of it this way - Your wife asks you ‘hey, does this dress make me look fat?’

Only you can answer your question. My trade in was perfectly capable, but was 11 years old and beginning to illustrate some “nickel and dime” repair issues and had a couple of nagging issues I could not work my way past. At 11 years old, it wasn’t going to improve in resale and the new Rap offered literally twice as much as I had ... of course it also cost 2.5x my ’06 trade in...
Realistically, stock for stock, in order to exploit the Jenny advantages over your Jennifer you’re going to need to cane the truck pretty hard and be a capable enough off road driver to take advantage of that caning. On road, you gets a few more bells and whistles. Sure, it’s 3 model years newer and it’s better all around in an evolutionary sense, not revolutionary.
Obviously, having both is the most correct answer, but if you can’t swing that, then ask yourself how the new truck improves the value and quality of your life? If you’re still wanting the new truck you should probably continue your shopping.
