2018 Tailgate Appliqué headache

Don't know about the 2018 tailgate, but I had the dealer install/epoxy the appliqué to my standard 2017 tailgate about one year ago. No issues, it can be done. Your mistake after taking delivery was not letting the body shop apply it. Take it back to them and have them install it. That way, if it flies off, they are responsible for it and its replacement.

You can drive your truck while they install, as they will remove the tailgate as well.

Aha, did not realize this. Explains why the stamped gate does not get one.

Numerous people have with zero issues, not sure why you say don't do it.

Guy has a brand new truck. I doubt he wants to have the dealer shave tabs down on the appliqué and then epoxy it to paint. If you have trouble down then line, you will have no warranty and a hell of a mess.

Either get the entire tail gate assembly and do it right, or just leave it alone is how I would proceed. Sell the appliqué on eBay if you do the second route.

Well, if he's like me, he found a SCREW, could not pass up the out the door price of $59K, it did not have the appliqué, which I really wanted, so YES, the dealer installed an appliqué to my brand new truck.

And if I have trouble down the line, I'll put another on.

I can’t tell if you are being intentionally obtuse, or have some type of deficiency. In case you are just not understanding the situation, he is definitely not like you. He didn’t buy a 70k truck and then want to slap an appliqué on it

This order occurred in error, and now he is trying to deal with it. This is not a deliberate choice on his part, but a remedy to an error by the dealer.

While slapping an appliqué on your truck is fine, it is not an appropriate remedy to an error made by the dealer due to the above reasons and more.

I can install it myself ..the problem is the appliqué doesn’t match the lines of the tailgate .
The 2018 Raptor tailgate is different than the 2017 tailgate it has F-150 stamped in it..

I caught it also he emailed me the build sheet it said in black and white appliqué delete..
I questioned it the salesman he told me it was the blue ford oval delete....
To make matters worse the day after I brought the truck home my wife noticed a nice ding in the tailgate....
When I picked the truck at the dealership I asked my uncle to look over the truck ding or scratches he didn’t see it and I also looked around the truck i didn’t see it ..
The way the truck parked it was probably why I didn’t see it,you have to stand back to see it..
I know it was there before I picked up ..
The salesman send me pictures of the truck when it was delivered to the dealership it was in those pictures....
Also the truck was ordered with the bed lights it’s on the widow sticker but the never installed them at the factory..
The salesman said he was arrange it so I could go to a ford dealership by my house and have the lights installed....
I picked up the truck in October I’ve called salesman a few times about the light and the manager one time
I still haven’t heard anything from them....
Next I’m going contact the owner..

I think that is the problem. A 2018 with the appliqué has the same tailgatenas the 2017mwith appliqué. With the 2018 model year, if you chose the delete option, you get the new stamped version, which will not fit the appliqué without extensive modifications.

Like I said I think your only options are to either leave it alone, or have them order the entire tailgate
