Hey I totally agree that hp means nothing off-road without a legitimate off-road suspension to utilize it. Luckily dodges standard suspension is already a better Jump of point than fords leafsprung setup. You have no idea what they'll do to upgrade their suspension for an off-road offering, you're making unfounded assumptions. Ford didn't have a serious offering suspension wise until the gen 1, saying that because dodge hasn't they won't is just silly.

Well Fiat isn't off to a good start when they push the Rebel as a serious offroad truck when it's 2017 with Raptors Gen 1 and Gen 2s and TRD Pros running about.

Guess we will see but I'm not holding my breath for anything special or close to a Raptor or even a TRD Pro fighter.

The rebel isn't pushed as a serious off-road offering, it's an fx4 competitor, which I think it does just fine.

Directly from the ford website: (2018 Ford F-150 Pickup | Tougher, Smarter, More Capable Than Ever | Ford.com)

Based on your need, the 2018 F-150 provides more engine alternatives. First, there’s an all-new standard 3.3L Ti-VCT V6. Next up, a 2.7L EcoBoost,Ⓡ a 5.0L Ti-VCT V8 and a 3.5L EcoBoost are all paired with a 10-speed transmission to deliver improved acceleration and performance. Of course, the F-150 Raptor gets its own unique high-output 3.5L EcoBoost. Also look for yet another powerful new option … with a new 3.0L Power StrokeⓇ Diesel engine.

Same thing I did when a better raptor came out trade it in....

Exactly, just sold my 2014, my 2017 is on the way. Looking forward to the TT6, sick of the V8 Ford sound, if it had the sophisticated burble of my C63S then Id be hard pressed to move to a V6. Honestly none of the american V8's sound great other than the Z06, most V8 trucks are fairly obnoxious. If the 2019,2020 Raptor has a sick sounding TTV8 Im with you Ill simple sell my 2017 and buy the new one LOL

Yes, it does get the unique 3.5 ecoboost, but has another option that has been said before. You get TWO engine choices coming.

Do you have any of creditable sources for that information? A ford news bulletin or leak? Something other than a rumor website? It is hard to believe ford has approved a 5.0 ecoboost in their production trucks and nobody has heard about it yet. Could they even get it past their production EPA requirements?

My 17 raptor is getting finally delivered to the dealership at the end of the month - if there was any proof an 18 model was coming out with a v8 i would have canceled my order because it would destroy the resale value of the 17s.

Yes, I have shared this multiple times. This engine program has come along very nicely and will be ready.
