Hello

I just picked up my 2018 Supercrew Raptor. Second one for me as I had a 2012 that I just sold to my son-in-law....yeah, he was super excited.

Simple question about a couple of standard mods......and looking for some recommendations.

1. Best package for a fog light set up. Three per side......maybe one amber and two white? Had two Rigids on the Gen 1. One spot and one flood.
2. Bakflip bed cover? Had one on my Gen 1 and it worked quite nicely.
3. CAI for this unit? Pros or cons? Concerns? Had an AFE on the Gen 1 and never a moment's trouble.
4. I leveled the Gen 1 and would like to do the same with this truck. Any concerns on doing this?

Appreciate any insight or feedback as I look to set the truck up.

Congrats! What color did you get? I’d recommend the Baja Designs fog pocket pro kit. I did that with ambers on the corner S2 lights.

Post up some pics!

Welcome to FRF! Pictures. Or it never happened (and you really bought a prius) :)

I made my own mount and got some Baja Designs lights for the fog pockets. Their wide cornering is pretty impressive, and it’s great for lighting up critters on the side of the road, but difficult to be able to run that on the street. I have spot, combo and wide corner, all white squadrons. I think I may nix the spot lenses and get the combo for 4 out of 6. My wide cornering are squadron sports, the others are pros.

How did you do 3 squadrons? Sounds good. Could you post a pic

I am a fan of the single driving light. The three light packages seemed like overkill.

Have the Backflip 4 hard cover and it is perfect.

I love BD lights, but really liked the finished look of the Ford Raptor Lights bezel, so went that route with BD Squadron Pro spot and wide cornering. Augmented those with BD XL80s driving/combo on SDHQ A-pillar mounts. Definitely meets my forward lighting needs!

I also wanted the single KC light to funtion as a marker light, so got it with an amber cover then put a couple coats of tint on the inside of that:

Also picked up BD’s Raptor-specific backup light kit.

CAI is fine if you just want more turbo/intake noise but won’t make much more power unless you also get a tune.

Thank you all for the information and your trucks are great looking!

I like the amber with the two white and that set up that 91eunos has looks fantastic.

Appreciate the input on the CAI as well. May just wait on that.

Again, appreciate the help!! Will post some pics as I get rolling with the changes!!

Fantastic information and really helpful. Went with RC lighting package, AFE CAI and the BAkflip bed cover.

Having it leveled today and an alignment. The shop I use recommended that I don't do the insert but rather, adjust the suspension and get the 1.5-2" out of that. Thought I would try that and see how it looks/works. Any opinion on that is appreciated.

Also, I had the 2012 and I can't help but notice as I drive this 2018 more, I have a "surging" sensation when I am simply cruising down the road. It could be 25 MPH or 55 MPH but it's like it has a "miss", "hesitation", "surge", etc. A bit annoying to say the least. It even does it when I use cruise control Any insights that you experts might share with me? BTW, that was before I installed the CAI...…...that mod is actually occurring today.

Appreciate the help.

Congrats on the truck! I did the rigid triple on mine; I used 2 midnight D series pro per side because I like the blacked out look, and can not legally run them on the street; they are usually off. I did put one SAE fog in the middle that I do run all the time, and they are bright; small cars think I am high beaming them all the time. I considered the Ford Raptor Lights bezel, but I didn't like how it took away from seeing the actual pods; I like to see what I paid for during the daytime when they are not on! I did install the Ford Raptor Lights rock guard fender piece, and it performs as advertised. I'm sure you already know by now, but contact Rick@freedommotorsports he saved me a ton on my rigid setup. Oh, and if you go the Rigid route, don't forget to buy the extension brackets so that you don't have to mount the pods upside down, or void your warranty by flipping the faceplate; they are super cheap.

Like a dummy I just realized you had already made your purchase; just be careful with the RC setup (if you are referring to Rough Country) I had a set of their pods to replace my F-250 fog lights and in less than a year the paint had flaked off of the pods and looked like complete trash. I will say that Rough Country warrantied them with a replacement set, but I choose to spend a little money and purchase the Rigid lights this time around; to my understanding they don't just simply paint their fog light bezels.

1. Ford Raptor Lights 3 light kit...best looking, best produced kit there is. I have 2 radiant amber Rigids and a KC Flex on each side, total was $780. You can go up in quality on the lights, but their kit is the best. I think they include it now, but make sure you get the inside wheelwell splash/rock covers. That's my only gripe: that these weren't included when i bought them.

2. I have the Bakflip MX4...love it. Call them and tell them you are on FRF and they will give you a great deal.

3. CAIs are hotly debated, with little to back up any claimed gains over stock, with nothing else. You may get a different sound. I just swapped the filter for a dry AEM, and am happy with that.

4. Have not leveled mine, but haven't really heard of any issues on the Gen2s with that.

Have fun!
