Yesterday I lost all the oil pressure and now the motor I am sure is done for. It starts and makes a lot of noise from the cam phasers and other odd noises. It only had 111,000 miles on it. I plan to replace it with a used lower-mile motor. Hopefully, it will be upgraded before putting it in, but I can't spend a lot. Maybe 2-4000 on top of the motor cost. Should I get a used Raptor motor or any f150 3.5 for the replacement?

Sorry to hear that! It seemed like EB’s weren’t very easy to find a year or so ago. Not sure about current state of the market.

This may be a dumb question but is there any problem putting a Gen 3 motor in my Gen 2? Also, anything I should change like the oil pan?

Open it up and see if you sheared off part of the crank like @Donovan did. It was a neat trick. He said his sounded like cam phasers too

Needs to be a 3.5 HO.

Before going any further though, what’s the history on the truck? Was the engine opened up at any point?

Last fall I did the Cam phasers. I thought I did a decent job but maybe not. Even before I did the cam phasers occasionally when getting on it when the oil was a little low I would get the no oil pressure warning then just restart it and it was fine again. It did this every time the oil was a little low. It did it again last Saturday while pulling a camper. Dropped the camper off and it was fine after restarting it. I went and got the oil changed. 2 days later on the freeway it did it again. So I pulled off and restarted it and it went away for just 5 minutes then came back while idling. That was new and started to worry me. I Restarted it again and got back to work but it did it before I got there. Now when I restart it, it happens within minutes and it sounds like the cam phasers aren't getting oil and makes other knocking noises but still runs. I believe I ran it without oil for too long.
