2018 Ford Raptor Front Differential broke in the snow they say that Ford may not cover it?

Something doesn’t smell right. What “warranty department” are the dealing with? What modifications have been done to the power train/drive train?

I will see if the dealership will send it to me. I am back home in TN. My truck is in South Dakota.
This sucks big time. Where is your skid plate now? Do a more itemized list of the sequences of events and send that to the Ford customer service rep you dealt with. Sounds like you're dealing with an idiot who doesn't know the whole story. Good luck.

I am wondering when they say "impact" if they mean a side impact from when you slid into the ditch and punctured the tire. Maybe the axle shaft got hammered into the housing?

Update on my truck, The warranty department sent out an inspector and they denied the claim for something that did not happen and is not even possible. They are stating that they think the broken differential is from an outside impact and not from an internal parts failure. When the inspector came out they had already removed my skid plate so he assumed something hit it. I have had the service manager at the shop explain to them that there was a skid plate and it was not damaged. He told them that it couldn't have been hit but even after me escalating it and talking to two different people at the warranty company they just read the computer screen that says denied. I talked to a Ford customer service rep who also talked to the service manager and all he could say was sorry and he offered me 1800 toward the repair. I told him I want to speak to someone higher up with ford. We will see what happens.

It sounds like they dispatched the local field engineer due to the circumstances surrounding the failure; I've never seen them send out someone from warranty. If there is no evidence of outside damage, it's typically a clear cut case and warranty will cover everything. Evidently the field engineer found something that didn't align with the failure mode. Is it possible that you slid into the ditch before the noises occurred? As I mentioned earlier, how did the truck slide into the ditch if the front diff was still functioning at that point?

When the front differential popped the vehicle stopped going up the road and slid backwards into the ditch. The ditch was only about a foot deep and my truck was not on the ground. The dealership said the ford warranty sent out an inspector because of the cost of repair. There is no damage under the truck and the service manager doesn't understand how they can come to this conclusion since the skid plate covers the front differential. I did not slide into the ditch with enough force to cause any damage. I was in the snow. My tire popped because the end of a cedar tree that was lying in the ditch stabbed through the sidewall of the BFG tire.

I have a Ford extended warranty Premium Care! They are not denying for modifications, they are denying for external damage which did not happen. I have rear leaf springs and Eibach front springs.Factory struts and shocks.

Get everything documented in writing. Get photos of all the parts involved, case, tire, skid plate. Then maybe you can escalate it at Ford. Start going up the ladder above the guy who came out. Make a stink. A loud one.

How are they denying the claim due to damage if no damage is present? Have they put it on an alignment rack to verify that no components are bent? If all alignment angles are in spec, the claim of an external impact to the wheel/tire damaging the differential is not supported. The aftermarket front springs certainly don’t help the case though, as they change the CV operating angles.
