Raptor prices remained artificially high because of undersupply, and then held once the truck was discontinued. 1st gen trucks will depreciate, but they'll still have substantial inherent value compared to another F150.
Saying that they'll retain their value forever though, or somehow appreciate because it was the last V8, etc., is silly. Price is a function of demand, and when anybody can pay the same price for a brand new truck, it's going to diminish demand for used vehicles. And even though plenty will keep their 1st gen truck for many more years, there are tons of owners who are itching to trade their truck in on the new model (and would have already done so if '15s and '16s were available), which will dump old Raptors on the market.
I remember there were a bunch of bimmer guys who thought the E92 M3 would somehow be a collectible due to its V8, and how it wouldn't depreciate when the new turbo 6 came out, and then they lost value like anything else. Most guys don't give a damn, and want the new hot thing.
Even if this new Raptor is a popsicle, most buyers would choose it, shiny and brand new and under warranty, not to mention with factory financing, over an old used truck, no matter how well kept.
